o All,
My family will be moving to a 3 bed house + 1 study room in Safaniya Drive, Dhahran Hills. Do you know if the house has carpet on the 1st floor? Also are these really old homes?
Many thanks!

It’s a 1980s townhouse in the Hills close to the school, most houses in the hills are like this. It will have been refurbished to local standards, ground floor will be tiled, 1st floor carpeted, decent size bedrooms, inbuilt stoe, dated kitchen, basic appliances, tiny garden, good size gae.

It will most likely have carpet upstairs unless a previous tenant has changed it to hard flooring, tile downstairs. They are approx. 40 years old.

o Tasmin, many thanks for your reply. I have seen a video from a similar house in Ras Tanura. The house looks okay, just that I developed asthma-like symptoms while living in a house with carpet and since then avoided it. I was medicated for that period, so Will try to ask them to relocate to a house without carpet, sending them my health records. I believe that it can be quite dusty in SA, so this combined with carpet, might not be the best in terms of keeping a healthy respiratory system.
Many many thanks

Many many thanks Well, the majority of houses have carpet, so they might not be able to. But, I have heard they will switch it to hard flooring at their expense with a proven dust allergy test. Good luck. Also, it will be new carpet, if you do end up having to live with it a bit.

That's good to hear! I have seen they have some houses further away that the top floor doesn't have carpet. I believe they are quite recent properties and have seen some posts of some people saying they were allocated there from the beginning and some saying they have to wait until they build credit for a couple of years.
I have already submitted medical evidence, hope they will get back saying they will either replace the flooring or moving us to a carpet free property! Will share here as it might help future tenants.
Thanks!

We are eligible to bid after 2 years but I would doubt anyone would have the points at that time, usually a bit longer. if they say no, you can call maintenance and get them to do it at your cost.

FYI You need 300 points plus to consider winning a bid for one of the newer houses, that’s 8 years plus for someone on GC14. Don’t worry about carpets, you can get it redone when you arrive for a couple of thousand riyal, worst case. As for dust allergies then moving to a desert isn’t going to do you favours.

They have asked for us to submit evidence, so hopefully something will be aided. I had the impression of reading a family being assigned to the new houses. As soon as I at least can get rid of the carpets I am happy! Thanks for your reply

Thanks for your reply I have recently arrived and my house has carpet, my wife wants me to remove them before they come because of allergies too. I am fine with paying myself a couple of thousands to do it but do you know who can do it for me. Appreciate any lead on this matter

Can someone please share more details on the point system? How are they earned? What are they used for?
