Are bigger houses, in general, newer or in a relatively better condition than smaller houses in Dhahran, or it's all the same ( 3 bed vs 2 bed houses ) The same, the houses in an area will have been built at the same time, in varying sizes, my street has 1,2,3 and 4 bed on it. Houses get a kitchen/bathroom refurb when they really have to be and it’s pretty rare. The houses in the heights are bigger and far newer, but as frequently discussed they are for people to bid on with accrued points, after two years of service.

Thank you tamsin for your reply, I am in the process of signing the offer and will be based in Dhahran camp coming with a family of 5 ( 3 kids) , my only concern is the housing and I understood that i have to lower my expectations on this regard, from your experience is there anything I can do or influence during offer signing stage to help with this or its completely random picking. any advice in general is greatly appreciated

It’ll be assigned just before you arrive and the only real factor is how many bedrooms are needed. They do seem to be trying to put people in 220v homes, which is good. You’ve no control here and it really isn’t terrible. Not the nicest house you’ll ever live in but not horrific.

Thank you, @tasmin for all the replies. Very useful. I have requested the Relocation advisor to consider the second child who in a very unpromising manner said will ask their counter part in SA. Hoping for the best!

Hoping for the best! Can only ask. If you know for sure that you will have a girl and a boy you are probably in with a good shout. The two to a room rule only applies to same gender.

Welp.. both boys so that's not going to help in this case. Maybe I should pretend I don't know haha.

That would work.
if you get a 2 bed, the study Isa good sized room, built in wardrobe and walk in closet. Many folk use it as an extra bedroom. I don’t believe the size of the house differs in any other way other than the extra bedroom.

Yes, exactly the same. The 2 bed has a double height ceiling in the dining room, the 3 bed has the bedroom there.

Personally, I think the adobes have a better floor plan than the regular townhomes.

We were also just assigned a 2 floor house in Hills at Tanajib circle. Is it also one of those which are "one of the worst ones"? I noticed that the rooms there are pretty small. it’s 3 bedroom + 1 study room. How are you finding it?

Hi all, I am due to join Aramco later this month or early next month hopefully. I’ll be moving with my wife and wanted to get a sense of the camping housing options available. I understand we will likely be eligible for a 2 bed apartment or a 2 bed house, is there a way to register our interest in a house vs. apartment? Or possible to get a sense of what housing options would be available?

No, not really. You’ll be assigned before you come and the only thing that affects it is family size. No control over it, at all.
