o UK Doc, Rakah Compound opened in July, and is now a thriving community, mainly of families with a surfeit of brightly coloured pansies along its roads plus a lot of sports and social activities underway. It is culturally diverse. A few US payroll families have moved off and more are to go, but most of the residents are staying and pretty happy about it. Take a look at the previous postings - you'll need to search variously on Rakkah, Rakah, Al Rakkah, Ar Rakah as there was confusion over the name when it opened.

There always have to be vacant houses available for emergencies. There have been house fires, one across from us, they had to move all four families because the 4 attached units were damaged. Friends of ours long ago had their house flood and they had to be moved.
Emergencies happen and other housing has to be available when they do.

Getting back to the topic: drfarooq1 and xjonsey et all. Now that aramco services does not handle physician recruitment how does JH handle recruitment and interviews? Where are their job postings and what is their short listing and recruitment process?

Chinook@Large, re which specialty I am in...send me a PM with your email if you have that privilege (I don't have it yet).
Re word from ASC, I did get an email from my Houston recruiter that things are on hold until at least March 1st. This is just in keeping with what others have heard too it appears. It didn't sound like a guarantee that offers would be made in March though, but I hope they will be made then.

@ root
speaking from personal experience - when my interview took place with Samso they informed me that a joint venture was taking place. I was interviewed in August and the joint venture process began around June/July time. Looking at this retrospectivly I should think that if JH wanted their own process then would they not have stated at that time not go ahead with any interviews so that they could implement their own criteria. Otherwise it seems a duplication of work!

As far as I know, Aramco Services is now totally disconnected from recruitment process. All job postings and hiring will be through JH. How will that work? I have no idea. Anyone who knows willing to share?

After receiving an offer almost two months ago, I contacted my ASC recruiter yesterday and he had heard nothing about Americans moving from Rakah to Dhahran. He did mention that the John Hopkins JV would go live next week Jan 28, and that new operations should begin Feb 1. To root’s point, the recruiter said all hiring will now be done by the Johns Hopkins/SAMSO company, and no longer by ASC. I understand there are major changes taking place, but I’ve got to admit the recruitment process has been bewildering at best, and the communications process is sorely lacking. The recruiter sent me an issue of the Arabian Sun that included an article on the SAMSO / JH joint venture. I’ve cut and pasted a portion here that provide some additional detail. I can forward the article (PDF file) to anyone who would like it. For some reason, I can’t receive PMs on the forum. “Saudi Aramco has invested considerable time and effort to ensure a smooth transition for SAMSO staff. Within the new company, they will find rewarding opportunities for growth. Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare will provide world-class professional training and development for health-care staff, offering exciting opportunities for our personnel to grow and learn from the very best within Johns Hopkins Medicine. Saudi Aramco recognizes that providing job security and fulfilling and enjoyable work is important to employees, as well as allowing them to focus on delivering high-quality medical care. All existing staff will begin secondment of up to three years to Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare on Feb. 1, 2014. During or immediately following the third year of the new company’s operations, employees may receive job offers to become employees of Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare; alternatively, employees may choose to continue providing their services to the company as a Saudi Aramco employee on secondment. This long-term partnership creates a strategic alignment of two renowned insutions designed to deliver advanced, sustainable health-care services and exciting opportunities to advance research and education within the Kingdom. One of the key goals is to establish a School of Nursing in Dhahran, which will be a regional leader in nursing education with programs to address identified priority developmental needs. This partnership serves Saudi Aramco’s strategic intent by helping to ensure better health for generations to come. Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare will continue using current communications channels such as the patient website, email announcements, awareness campaigns and articles in Saudi Aramco publications. In addition to valuable health awareness and education material, information will be provided to all beneficiaries about any changes, new services and procedural updates.”

Another -bit to the best of my understanding: John Hopkins Aramco collaboration will be called John Hopkins Allied Health, or John Hopkins Aramco Healthcare as the abrreviation used has been JHAH. vpainter, trying to PM xjonsey results in this message "The requested users to be added do not exist."

root,
As mentioned in the post previous to yours, the full name is Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare. Please note the 's' at the end of the first word in the name - a lot of people seem to miss it off.

I interviewed with SAMSO in early Sept and was told I'd be getting my offer...next week, next month, just a few more days...and on and on. I just heard from my recruiter that Johns Hopkins will be taking over hiring and that he will no longer be handling it. He doesn't know if I will still be getting an offer or how Hopkins will be handling things.
I am so discoued. My recruiter told me to check back with him after March first and that he might have some information. Has anyone heard anything? Will Hopkins be starting the recruitment process over or will they continue to hire people who have already been selected? Any ideas/thoughts are greatly appreciated.

waitekatie From all the data points of information I have, I can extrapolate that the JHAH jobs will be posted again on Aramco job site possibly late march. At the moment JHAH have other issues to deal with therefore immediate hiring is inactive until, tentatively, march or late march.

rootThank you for your response! It sounds like based on the information you have I'd likely have to reapply. I really could not have picked a worse time to apply for this job it seems. I appreciate the help! If you get any updates, I'd love to hear them.
