It's been 3 weeks since our passports were sent to Ottawa and still no news as of yet. I really hope to get news this week. This final wait before the visas are stamped is certainly painful.

dave74,
agreed. Going on 5 weeks. every step in this process seems to take longer than the previous one. Been advised late last week that they were holding back processing at the consulate in Ottawa due to increased demand for Haj and apparently they will process the pile they have waiting for us starting this week but who knows.

Yes!!!! I got the call today with the great news that our passports were received back in Houston with the visas stamped!!!! So it took 4 weeks wait for us. I had been informed earlier that the consulate in Ottawa will be closed for the holidays October 3 to 9.
We also discussed today about potential departure dates and they will be sending me the clearance letter early next week.
Good luck to all!

Hi all
I am also waiting for instructions to send my wifes' and my passport to Ottawa. My medical and documents have been verified.
I was told by RA that i may get only my visa for now from Ottawa and I will have to sponsor or apply for wife visa from KSA. This may take 6 weeks or so.
I wanted to find out if anyone else heard the same thing. I am surprised to hear this.

Chrismater2000, Unfortunately, I did not get my visa. Apparently they need more Info on my military service in Canada when I served over 20 years ago. I have to wait after October 9th when the embassy will re-open. I was told this is a standard procedure to verify military service. Hopefully this will not take long. However I am a bit confused because the embassy returned my passport back to Houston. Does the embassy need the passport to stamp the visa? Or did the embassy have enough time to take all the info on my passport and send it back to Houston? Looks like I have to wait until next week.
