Just a little timeline of our experience - we have been very lucky as far as time wise from what we have been reading here - we are Canadian expats who have been living in South Korea...
May 10 2014 - Skype Interview for position
May 15 - email offer for position
May 25 2014 - accepted offer
May 31 2014 - relocation advisor assigned (BTW - excellent agent - kudos to her she has been exceptional helpful especially as we were trying to accomplish everything from South Korea!)
June 3 2014 official Fedex offer/BI package arrived in South Korea
June 7 2014 submitted backgrounds info
June 24 2014 - good news BI cleared onto next step....visa medicals
August 4 2014 - medicals completed in South Korea (after much sign language and laughs getting these intense Saudi Medicals over here with the language barrier..our Korean is VERY limited, but on the upside we could enter the charades Olympics and get gold now!)
August 5 2014 - over night trip to Seoul to have foreign affairs and Saudi Arabian Embassy in Korea to stamp and attest the results...more charades and a few extra grey hairs navigating around a city that is busier then an any hill!
August 7 2014 - FedEx'd medicals to Houston - all good to go!
August 21 2014 - WebEx orientation
August 30 2014 - received word from relocation adviser that she has our block le!! woohoo!!
Sept 3 2014 - overnighted via FedEx our passports to Houston (sitting in a foreign country without our passports and getting grey hairs with everything crossed that the North and South don't decide to get busy with each other while we don't have passports in hand! )
Sept 4 2014 - passports send from Houston to Saudi Embassy in Canada for visas
Sept 12 2014 - passports back in Houston -visas stamped for both wife and I !!!
Sept 12 2014 - notice given to current employer - started packing for repatriation from South Korea to our home in Cyprus (these Canadaian expats skipped out on the snow over 10 years ago!)
September end we will say our goodbyes to our Korean adventure for some fun in sun in our Cyprus home and then a visit back in Canada with our adult children before departing into Saudi Arabia
ETA for Saudi Arabia November 12 2014 ---- very excited to get this new chapter of our lives started, hope everyone else's process goes as smooth as ours did!!
-for the record incase others are going..huhhh?!? how so quick?!?!...possibly it may have had to do with myself having had numerous visas for Saudi Arabia before... not sure..none the less very glad it went so fast, I was not expecting this smooth or as fast a process!
Kudos to our relocation advisor she went above and beyond for us to make this as easy as possible....(note to self....send relocation advisor something nice for all her assistance
)
