I have heard that Canadian embassy is taking longer than normal - in some cases over a month - to issue visa to Canadian passport holders. Could some Canadians, who recently got the visa, share their timelines. Thanks in advance.

Actually, my visa application began on June 17, 2013, but was delayed because Houston consulate said some documents such as marriage and birth certificates needed to be translated and attested (ASC did for me). At the end, all documents were ready and submitted to Ottawa on July 8, 2013 for visa application

Our Visas took 7 weeks back in April of this year. Prepare for the move as much as possible. We left three weeks after but it was a hectic three weeks.

When a visa is applied, when do you typically have to send your passport. I am hearing that visa takes mostly 7 weeks. Does this mean you are without a passport for 7 weeks?

Yes. Actually more than 7 weeks. Our passports were requested a week before the actual application was made and the return took about few days (due to week end). so i would say be prepared to be without your passport for about 8 to 9 weeks. best of luck

I sent my passport, to apply for the Visa, to Houston ASC and was received on August 2nd. I just got Confirmation today, August 27th, that they had my Visa in Houston and were sending me a final package with my Passport/Visa and arrival instructions on FedEx today. So basically 3 weeks for the Visa application. I had also heard horror stories of a couple of months for any Canadians Visa's to be processed, so I am happily surprised.

Aramco is waiting for my visa le to come along for the next step which is visa application. Does aramco request for your passport when the visa le comes in and when they are ready to apply for the visa? Does the 3 weeks to 8 weeks consulate visa process takes place at that point?Trying to understand how this works.

Hi touchstone,
If your BI and visa Medical is complete, the RA will ask for your Passports as soon as they receive your Visa le. Yes, the normal time for Visa process is 3 weeks it may get delayed due to holidays like Eid. All the best to you.
