We have submitted our Canadian passports to ASC in July 30 for stamping by the Saudi Embassy in Ottawa. Since then we haven't heard any thing from them yet. According to the Saudi Embassy in Ottawa the visa processing time after June 2012 is 22 days. Can any body tell us how long it takes now to get the visa stamped by the embassy in Ottawa.
Thanks

Patience is the key. Also do a search for timelines in the forum you can see other new employees timeline for going thru the process.
It could also be delayed because the Aramco Internet problems occurred during your 22 days.

My understanding is 45 days for a Canadian visa. Also add in the Eid holiday and a some Ramadan delay to take it out to 60 days...possibly. I would not reasonably expect your visa for another week or so.

We are also Canadians and just received our visas Friday as well after the entire summer of waiting! It appears Canadian visas are taking longer than other countries, by all accounts. We will be arriving Sept 30, so my three kids will have missed a month of school. I have put in a request to have a general curriculum sent to me so my kids can get up to speed while we wait. Meanwhile, does anyone else have kids missing school b/c of delays? Are there any teachers out there with ideas - my kids are in Grades 1, 6 and 7. Meanwhile I have just had them do math and general studies to at least get them ready to dive into school. Also, does anyone in Dhahran teach Music for Young Children or a related program or private piano lessons? As well, I am selling our piano here and will be looking for one there if anyone has one for sale, would love to find one right away. I was also told I could have access to an employees online classified listing but haven't received access, if anyone knows about that as well. Thank-you for all the information provided here, this forum has been very helpful in our transition. Looking forward to this huge new life change and meeting many of you!

KSE and ramroma,
Aramco schools are used to students missing weeks of school, even old timers kids do start school 2 to 3 weeks late. So try not to worry too much about that. The schools have a very transient population and kids are going in and out all the time. Very different from anything you are used to.
There is a musical play group for young children through the Women's Group. There are private piano teachers in camp. Many times they have a waiting list, so get the list from Community Services office after you arrive inside the Al Majamma building (you will know where that is after you arrive). Pianos can be bought new at the Yamaha store in Al Rashid Mall, they also have a store in the souq area. Also people do sell them on camp from time to time. Hopefully the Internet problems will be fixed and you can access the Aramco Classifieds after you arrive. You can not have access to this site prior to arrival.

The delay is with the Saudi Consulate in Ottawa - Aramco can do nothing about it. Unfortunately you just have to wait.

hi everyone - first time post here - apparently my cdn passport was sent to ottawa Sep 17th - ASC is advising of getting back around Oct 26 - with a fly out date of Oct 31. Fingers crossed here but timelines seem to consistently move. All about patience in the end.
