First post of the panel.
Hi all, Im looking at going to RT shortly. Although I havent received confirmation as yet, I did do my visa medical this week, so it feels like its just around the corner. I am eager to get there and start my time in KSA, well before the summer heat begins....I think the first summer will be a challenge but after that should be OK. Hoping to meet a variety of people, and maybe even entertain them. Im a beginner guitarist/performer......who is getting better slowly, although I still cant sing very well (all those years of smoking) I intend to practice my Acoustic guitar every evening, and on weekends, my electric guitar (when it arrives in the shipment). I hope my neighbours like it 8) If there are any other musos there maybe we could jam on occassion? Any bass players out there? Drummers? Perhaps eh?
Well lets get this forum happening....

It's a very, very quiet community actually. A band is badly needed !! LOL

o
There are already active bands here and a lot of jamming to be heard (some play in gigs in Bahrain as well and what great fun we had dancing to their band) - we have also a great music teacher here as well - like you I can't sing but I do play piano we have a lot of musicians here so you should enjoy jamming with them all.
Let us hope you get here before the heat/humidity begins all the best oh by the way did you get my PM sent to you last week? just answering some further contacts that may of use to you.
All the very best Carolina

Hi again,
Great news, someone to jam with.....I might have to look into a small PA set up to take over as well, although with a heavy guitar amp and electric guitar...cant take everything I suppose....
3-5 months of heat? or less? I assume it starts in June? Thats a good time to get into practicing (indoors).....
well, its still early here, Sunday morning.....end of Summer......its been a wet summer, one of the wettest on record....floods etc.
talk again soon.

Congratulations Uman! Best of luck with the move and your new job. I hope you like RT. Here in DH, it was over 100 degrees this weekend. Summer is settling in. I'm sure you'll be glad you're by a beach.

Thanks, and that does sound hot. Here we use the celsius system so I can only guess that 100 is around 40 - 42 degrees celsius, which is a decent heat.....It gets that hot here in summer, but we often get a cool change in the afternoon from a coastal breeze so it cools off nicely in the evening....sometimes its hot enough for air conditioner all night.....sometimes.

It has been hot, but there is usually a nice breeze so the evenings are okay to go out in. We have been walking every night. Just stay in during the day I will pm you our number. We will have been here a month when you get here, so we can be newbies together.

o I have newly signed up and this is my first post on any forum (21st century here I come)! I have been trawling this forum for info for a while - its great people seem really helpful, so I thought why not sign up and ask some of these burning questions I have. Many thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help. To outline our situation, my husband has been offered a position at Aramco Ras Tanura however via Haka. We are in principle pretty keen to give it a proper go in Saudi as a family as I am 7mths pregnant and the information provided to us regarding family life & worklife balance sounds very appealing and could enable me to have a career break whilst raising a young family. My concerns are that whilst we have been sent videos regarding the compund, lifestyle etc that look great - when I have been researching I'm sure if we are being misled re what to expect as a haka employee rather than Aramco direct employee. Can anyone advise please. If we are uneligible for the aramco compound are there other viable options or not and how would they be pursued. Thats my initial burning questions, look forward to any responses
