There is a huge difference between living inside Aramco compond and outside. Also note there are no good private compounds close to Ras Tanura. So if you are not eligible to live in Ras Tanura Aramco compound (also known as Najmah), expect a long commute for your husband and some additional chalanges.

SupriYjo,
Your PM ability will be unlocked after your first 3-5 posts have gone through the approval process. This helps prevent spammers. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Welcome to RT... Life tends to move a bit slower here, which can be both a blessing and a curse. While you're trying to get settled in, get internet, etc it seems to take forever. But once you get adjusted life is good. The internet here in RT seems to vary quite a bit depending on which side of the camp you live on. Those near the comm are saying theirs is ok. Some of us on the far side of camp have been having speed issues. Even so, its ok for most of what I do. Good luck with everything, just realize these first few months (especially in the summer) are the most challenging. The Fall and Spring are beautiful, and winter isnt that bad either .

LeeF,
Hi, I am a direct hire so I have a place to live. Some contractors at work are employed through HAKA.....it seems they are preferred to Sraco......as there are generally less problems.... Are you a teacher? There are places to live in RT....its not impossible.....the standard is pretty low though....Suwaidi camp/compound seem to be the fallback for everyone....they start there and venture to better places....

Hi everyone,
Seems I have an offer coming my way regarding working and living in Ras Tanura. Im Australian (from Perth) currently living and working in the UAE.
Can anyone PM me to give me some more info of living in the RT compound. I have a wonderful wife (pro photographer) and 3 young children. 2 are currently in a British school over here.
Can you let me know what schooling is available (any brit schools), and is there any chance for my wife to run a photography business in KSA?
Regards,
Matt
