Hi everyone,
I have the similar situation, as I got very positive feedback after my first interview. They told me that I'm "technically qualified" for the job but they put me in the backup" list.
can someone in this forum please share experience/ Knowledge with this kind of situation ?

Yes, your understanding is correct and backup candidates are picked only if preferred candidate is dropped for what ever reason...offer declined, failed Background or medical checks etc. Also from this year onwards there are three backup candidates for each role. However, I would suggest to assume it is not going to happen and if it does it is a bonus. |

However, I would suggest to assume it is not going to happen and if it does it is a bonus. I am also in similar situation. Interviewed earlier this month and told that I am backup candidate. There are two options for call up - main candidate refuse the offer/ problem with BI/med/visa etc or new role is opened up. How do you know that there are three backup candidates for each role? I asked the recruiter in AOC London. She has no idea as the main decisions are taken in Saudi. |

There is no set amount of "backup" candidates. It depends on role, hiring manager, business line etc... We often dont have any backup and just hire who we want, the fact you are a "backup" means you might get offered the role if the favoured candidate pulls out or fails checks. Your best bet is to wait, its out of your hands.

Hi All,
I have the same status as Background investigation under backup candidate.
the recruiter told me that TQ is ok and requested to fill up and submit documents forms payslip, etc
is there anyone has the same case and moved to offer stage?
and how much time shall we wait to know ?
is that positive sign or not?

I got TQ email just day after interview (30/08/2023) and the email stated that I should get an offer but offer is not guaranteed , it was for the role of Electrical Engineer in PMT department, they have started my degree verification process but no offer yet ; is this normal ? I dont know that I am in the front que or in the back up candidate list . how long after the interview they confirm that you are in the back up list or back up candidate list any idea ?
