calpet,
If mine has already been sent in to get stamped I should have it back before then...right?

It is possible and you can hope it does. Of course, no one can tell you for sure, it is the government. People have been coming during Ramadan for many years. It does slow down.

I was told the processing time is 10-15 working days - so hopefully yes. But like vpainter says, it is a government process and anything could happen. A relative of mine got her Canadian "visit" visa in 4 months and US visa in just one day, so anything could happen. Fingers crossed and hope for the best.

calpet, As vPainter often says - everything is normal. Cross your fingers, but don't panic if things take longer.

Here is my timeline:
19 May 2014 - Visa medicals in Houston 03 June 2014 - Visa applied in Ottawa 16 June 2014 - Visa stamped and passport received in Houston (pretty quick, eh) 30 July 2014 - Departure from Calgary (note that Aramco will not receive new employees after 17 July due to Ramadan and Eid holidays)

Has anyone heard lately from their ##? Last time I heard anything two weeks ago, no blocks for Canadians were imminent. Looks like other nationalities are being processed. I wish I would have known going into this that the process would just keep dging out and absolutely nothing you can do about it. Trying to find other things to preoccupy my thoughts. Happy Canada Day everyone.

I have not heard any real news from my relocation advisor in Houston despite having consistently followed up with her every other week or so. I have been notified by someone at Aramco in Saudi Arabia that the visa block processing has changed, where visa blocks are now processed according to nationality. The quick note I received some weeks back indicated that the visa block for Canadian nationals will be the 5th or 6th batch, but was unable to get any further detail on a timeline or how many batches have been released thus far.
A number of Canadians have received their visa les in recent weeks/months, but it seems as if many of the people who did receive them were from traditional backgrounds in engineering and related areas. I am not in a "core" function (financial yst), therefore that may be part of the reason for the delay in my case since I am not a "MALE/CANADIAN/ENGINEER" visa le.
I have just come to realize that you can really not believe anything anyone says in terms of timing of visa block releases, as predictions and forecasts on this topic have almost exclusively been completely false in my experience. Feel free to add anything in case you have heard differently from your relocation advisor or other contacts...

Has anyone heard about the Canadian visa block release recently from their relocation advisors? Any new information would be much appreciated...

tvdloo, My RA told me that my visa le was ready three weeks ago. Two weeks ago I did my orientation and med at ASC. My RA said my med results will be authenticated by KSA consulate in Houston, then send to Ottawa with my passport for visa. I am an engineer in Calgary.

MissingSki,
Nice work!!! Does your relo advisor have a tentative departure date and community arranged for you? We leave Aug. 14 and will be in DH Tower. Looking forward to meeting you over there!!!

relo adv said early Sept for departure but I don't put my hope high. Through all the process, now I am a bit laid back and accept whatever time when it comes. After all, in the last email my relo adv said my degree is being attested. That's two months after I sent my US degree. So you know any of the step we think easy may take a very long long time. My thought now is let it be! My relo adv mentioned I may be placed to the tower. I don't worry about this at all since it's all out of my control. From what I read here the residence can be changed any time, even one day right before the departure. Yeah, I am also very excited to meet you and others in this forum. We have already developed a true comradeship through this special process of hiring, and we will go through all the highs and lows in the Kingdom together in many years to come!
