I have never heard this "12 pages" thing although I read it previously in another thread. It did not come up when I sent my passport to ASC and it has not been mentioned by anyone other than submitters in the forum (nothing official from ASC or Aramco, is what I mean). Anybody have any idea what it's about? Is it specific to nationality? Is it real, etc.? I know of only two reasons that one's passport would be unacceptable:
1. Stamped or apparent passage to, or entry through, OR 2. Expiry within 6 months of submission date.
Beyond that, I cannot fathom why KSA would need 12 pages. The visa "sticker thing" will fit on one page; subsequent exit/entry permissions (if issued 6 or 12 months at a time) will easily fit in two or three pages; and then the passport expires. And the whole process starts again. If it were that big a deal -- like having to pass a vision test or something -- surely it would have come up before this (he said, knowing that almost nothing is as it seems with this process)...

The 12-page thing was on one of those numerous and sundry forms we filled out and returned.

Ya I remember seeing the 12 pages thing too. After following up with my relo advisor she said that they didn't need to be sequential though. One of my pages, right smack dab in the middle, has a stamp from OKC..."wonderful" I thought but it doesn't sound like it should be an issue.

Does anyone has a more current timing for KSA embassy in Ottawa to stamp the visa? To rephrase the question, has anyone lately have had the visa stamped in Ottawa and if so, how long it took?
Thank you kindly.

Zuny - it's anywhere from 2-3 weeks so long as you already have a visa le. If you're name was attached to a visa le BEFORE it was submitted for approval by the Saudi government then it's anyones guess as to how long it will take before it gets stamped.

Just heard (indirectly, mind you -- from my Shipping Coordinator) that she was told to defer my pack date until early August because my Relocation Adviser is not expecting my visa le until August 1st. Or later. Another two months. Time to do some hard thinking.

Jeff,
I know this has been said many times, but most people do not really understand just how much patience is needed to come to work for Aramco.
The hiring process once you receive an offer has become almost a year for many people and longer for some.
It is unbelievable that it takes that long, but most, not all would say it is worth the wait once they are here.
This government visa block requirement has really caused many a problem for Aramco and their future new hires.
To Everyone Waiting On a Visa or anywhere in the hiring process. It is very important you just continue living your life as though the process is nonexistent. You go about your life as usual and when it all comes about and you have all the contingencies cleared, been told to quit your job in writing, then you can be excited about coming and think about it as though it will happen. You can do research on the move, plan the things you want to bring, store, give away, sell, etc. and take care of necessary paperwork, but just attempt to not get your hopes up and expect it to move quickly. It just isn't today more often than not. If you are lucky enough that your hiring process moves quickly, congratulations.

vpainter,
Thanks for the reassuring message. This process has tested my patience more than any I have experienced in life and I am still waiting less (6 months in some cases) than others on this forum. I appreciate hearing the great news from people moving forward but I appreciate even more the stories of frustrated individuals ready to get on with their life.
That being said, Jeff - I really want to see a happy ending for you. I await the day when you update the forum saying "I got the call from my ## and my departure date is set! Ma salama!"

crooner, vpainter, erdna, and all others -- sincerest thanks for your support and reassurance and sharing. Weak and maudlin moment for me when I got the 'delay' note; I did lose sight of the patient atude that I have been preaching; I did forget about the potential that this opportunity brings; and I did overlook the reasons that I chose to pursue this adventure in the first place.
Thanks again for the kindness and the gentle 'kick in the pants'. Despite my evident dismay, I did manage to move on and found something else to occupy my every waking moment. I hope to share that happy circumstance with all of you at some point in the not-too-distant future.
Cheers!

All good advice for sure here but the rollercoaster continues and it is just what it is. Hopefully the good days are more than the bad. Steiner and others, keep thinking positively and your posts are very good. Frustrating process for sure and sad to hear that so many other Canadians are in limbo too. Have a good weekend and maybe we will hear better news on Monday or Tuesday.

Any Canadians have any current timing updates from when passports are sent to Ottawa for stamping to when ASC gets them back? The last update I saw was from cgyguy who's took the better part of 3 weeks.
