I'm a bit confused. I signed my offer in September which was based on Saudi payroll. I got an email from my advisor in november saying that after november 1st employees 'will have the opportunity' to switch to the global payroll. Is it my choice to decide whether I stay on the Saudi payroll or change to global?
Thanks

For current employees who are not on it yet and are eligible for it, it is a choice of whether to move to the Global Payroll or not. For expat new hires, as I understand it you can only stay on your "current" payroll if you have already accepted the offer and do not wish to renegotiate it. If you renegotiate an expat salary offer on an eligible payroll, it will be changed to the Global Payroll automatically.

Just wondering if offers are still being issues on the legacy payrolls, or every new hire now goes on a single global payroll.

No offers are being made any more on the legacy payrolls. And any current offers which are renegotiated or changed, will become global payroll offers also.

Hi Azraeil & Vpainter, I have been scheduled to interview for a position in the Unconventional Resource Division of Saudi Aramco. I hold a permanent resident status in the United States and hold passport from one of the Tier 3 countries. My understanding is that my permanent resident status would no longer qualify me to be placed on US payroll system under the Global Payroll Tier system. I have the following clarifications to make:
(1) Is there any exception to this policy, considering the fact that I have not visited my home country in decades, I no longer have any tie there, I received my masters and PhD from United States, I have been working for years in the United States, and finally, my wife and children are all US citizens? (2) While I understand that Tier 1 receives Standard Overbase of 40% of base salary, do you know the % for Tier 2 and Tier 3? (3) Is the % fixed for each Tier or it is a range within a Tier, depending on whether one is being hired on family or single status? (4) Does the % overbase also depend on the size (number of dependents following employee to KSA) of the family? (5) I understand the % overbase is higher for Tier 1 than Tier 3. However, I am obligated to pay taxes to the US government as a permanent resident of the United States and NOT to my Tier 3 country. How is Saudi Aramco addressing this disparity in overbase for tax purposes for someone in my situation? (5) Under the new policy of global payroll, can I still make United States my primary point of origin for repatriation purpose (based on my permanent resident status) or it has to be the Tier 3 country?

Hi
I am under similar situation. Indian passport and UKASE permanent resident. Will get British passport end 2015. But need accept offer now
1. Can one change the status after the British passport comes thru. How?
2. How to convince them to hold the offer or give higher package
3. What happens if I want to relocate to Orr international Armco offices and is this even possible?
4. Possible negotiation techniques to not be stuck under Indian package
Many thanks!

Hi Vijay19,
I got an offer just after I submitted my UK naturalisation application (was an Indian passport holder). I spoke to the recruiter explaining my situation and they waited for me till I got my British passport. Once I send a copy of the new passport they made me a revised offer which I accepted. The initial offer was made in January 2014 and the revised offer came through in October. Hope this helps.

I received my offer this month and it doesn't state a payroll, merely remuneration in SAR and the equivalent home currency.

Nationality has a direct impact on the Payroll you are put in. And in fact I've just come to know the BIG difference in RAA allowances between the Global Payroll and the Eastern Payroll (In my case the difference of RAA is 5 times less than that of Global Payroll) I wonder what is the policy for Remote Area Allowance and the Overtime eligibility between the two payrolls. I am on GC12 in Eastern Payroll hired for Jazan. I wonder if I would get the remote area allowance and overtime

Seems this is the right post to chime in with my question - Chinese citizen with US green card and have been studying and working in US for ten years. Will I be put on a US payroll or other?
Thanks a lot!

Thanks, detfans. Would you please give more insight on the difference between the two suc as pay grade for the same job, overbase, salary curency, benefits, etc. I am just trying to get the feeling of how far away those two will be in the ball park.
