o
I am expecting and it is my first time so I am much more concerned. I just go through the previous posts on this topic and one of the member said that "Some of the doctors are better than others when it comes to giving first time mothers general information and support about pregnancy. I found some of the doctors just want you in and out, but others would spend the time to talk to you", so regarding this is it possible that some one suggest me a doctor's name of Dahran hospital who has caring and empathetic atude. Beacuse it is much important for me to find a doctor who is willing to listen you and answer all your silly questions without being rude.
Also one more thing, as the delivery is to be done with midwife but in case of any emergency or c-section, will the same doctor (to whom you see for 9 months) be available?
Thanks

What you've said about the docs is pretty much accurate, there is a wide range of atudes and abilities. DH has some of the best Docs and midwives to be found, and there's some that leave a bit to be desired. Unfortunately, you dont get to choose which you get. You make your appointments and whoever shows up shows up. When it comes time for the birth whoever is on call that day comes.
Ive known some who've had their babys in DH and said it was wonderful, others who hated it. For us, my wife is flying back to the US and will deliver there. Shes been high risk and the OB we had back home was amazing.
Congrats on the baby, and good luck with whatever you choose.

Two feet, I've two questions for you as we may think on these lines soon. If you are planning to have you new baby born in US, will the OOK will cover the cost? Do you require visa from Saudi embassy for your new born? If visa is required, then who will apply for new born visa, yourself or your previous relocation adviser? I heard that new born may not require visa and can travel with mom on her iqama? Other concern is new born visa process may take a while and having other kids in school at Kingdom may require mom's attention as well and if new born visa takes longer than usual then it may be tough call to plan a baby born in US. Please share your thoughts. Thanks
please confirm if you know the answers.

My wife and I are planning on having a baby next year and plan to do so in the USA (where we are from). There were a lot of interesting questions regarding visas and such. Can you please post the replies on the forum?

I do not have visa information for new borns. Please check the appropriate Embassy websites for official information.
You are both asking for an email over a year old. I no longer have that email and do not remember what I sent.

I had 2 good delivery experiences in Dhahran. I had my 3rd in USA, and I liked Aramco Dhahran better, even though they're a bit less flexible when it comes to wanting a 100% natural birth. The aftercare and food was a lot better in the Aramco hospital. I hope to deliver there again some day.
There are some ladies in the Khobar area who offer childbirth education classes, so that's something you may want to consider. It's a lot easier to have a birthing experience you're happy with if you are prepared and educated.

Hi UmmRiyam,
Thank you for your post. It sounds like you have experance having a child born in the US and returned to KAS. Can you share your experience on the visa requirements (or other challanges) for your newborn to enter the Kingdom?
Cheers

My husband is Saudi, so we just had to get a temporary Saudi passport from the consulate in Houston. It was very easy and quick. I am not sure about the process for newborns that will be added onto an iqama.
