Sorry, my email was not about visa requirements. You find those on the embassy or us.gov websites.

o - does anyone know whether epidural is offered as a choice when it comes to delivery? My wife is due in December of 2014 which means that, pending the normal requirements in terms of BI, Medical, etc., we should be in KSA by then. Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can choose to have an epidural. However, I would suggest that you and your wife research the risks of the epidural and how it may affect your baby during and after delivery. There are natural childbirth classes available in Dhahran and doulas in the area as well. In addition to the epidural, Aramco dhahran also offers Demerol and nitrous oxide for pain relief. but, all kinds of pain relief have some side effects for mother and baby, so it's important to research and decide what you feel is best for you and your baby.

o,
As our arrival date is nearing, I would like to request from those who have had babies in Dhahran to PM me the doctor, nurse, etc they would recommend and whom we could get in touch to get some additional information.
Thanks in advance.

Please also send me information on childbirth in Dhahran, I am due next year, expected to arrive in KSA later this year. Very nervous about the whole process. Are there any good OBGYNs? Will I be able to visit the doc on my own or do i need to be accompanied by my husband? also does the hospital has NICU unit, if yes what level?
Please do the same for me, i need information on OBGYNs and about Peds.
Thank You,

Any ladies who work for ARAMCO, not sponsored by a husband, have a kid while working over there? Were you able to keep your kid with you? What did that process look like? Did you get maternity leave?
I have been offered a job with single status, but am married without kids. Kids are definitely in our future, but I want to know how that would work. Would you get fired or let go because of having a child, but being on single status? I've searched all over the forum, but haven't found any posts.
Thanks in advance.

I have never been asked that question in all the years I have been taking care of the forum. I have never heard about anyone in the situation you are asking about. I do know a nurse who was with Aramco on single status, but her husband was in Khobar working for a different company and she lived with him off our compound, so it wasn’t an issue for her.
I do know a woman here without her husband is not given family status. But I do not know what they would do if you had a baby while working on single status and your husband not living here?

My husband would stay on a visitor visa as much as he could and just go visit family in the in between times and try to find employment elsewhere in Khobar. We have lived there before. Interesting that no one has asked that before. I wonder if things are changing in that regard bc in my interview they asked me how long I wanted to stay with them. I told them as long as they would have me and I fully disclosed I was married. But obviously can't stay forever if having children would not be an option due to logistics.
