I have accepted an offer from Aramco, and I am now preparing my papers for the BI. My questions is: I have a gap in my working experience (about 8 months) and that is in part because I moved back to Canada. To be quite honest, I worked part time that time in a job that is unrelated to my field and for which Aramco is hiring me for.... do you think that I should include these 8 months as unemployed/relocation period (especially that my wife pregenant and we had a new baby), or should I include the part time job (which was less than 20 hours/week).
Easy question for me to answer as I had employment gaps. BI person wanted to know the names and contact information for 3 people that knew your whereabouts during each employment gap. So if I was you, I would include the part-time job. That is easier than providing 3 references.

Thank you Key West... That is an interesting concept... references to confirm your whereabouts...to tell them for example that I was unemployed? The problem with my part time job is that all the people i knew are not there anymore.
Here is my timeline: Sept-Oct 07: Back to Canada (setteling) Oct-Dec07: Bumming around (some kind of Vacation) Jan-April08: took some courses at a local college April08-Now: working at the same place
With the economy being what it is these days, it is not unusual for people to take jobs that aren't necessarily in their career track, to make sure the bills get paid. If it were me, I'd definitely say I'd been employed part-time rather than say I was not employed. I'd rather avoid holes in my resume. Also, if a credit report might bring up the name of that former part-time employer, it might be awkward to explain why the job wasn't on the resume. They might think you're hiding something about the work experience there.
I am currently going through the BI process. I have 8 months unemployment gap in my CV which I took out consciously for family reasons. I had a question raised to me by via the recruitment advisor to explain what I have done during this time which I thoroughly answered. Is this something I should worry about?
Unless you were in jail or served in a military/militia that opposes Saudi Arabia and allies, don't worry about it. The BI is just to verify where you were, and what you were up to, that's all.
Remember, your BI means you've passed the interview and accept the offer, correct? That also means HR / interviewers / managers, etc, are aware you have a gaps, as they read your CV, correct? Thus, it's nothing to stress about it, as in, will they revoke the offer b/c of gaps? No, they won't, b/c they're already aware of the gaps; they're just being verified now.
The other side is this: everyone has secrets, right? Well, if your BI comes out super squeaky clean, that's a red flag too.
Hence, they will contact you for additional information and verification.
Again, it's part of the process; just be polite, cooperate, and provide all info or explain as best as possible.
I was married and divorced in a foreign country, and yes, it was checked and verified with the courts in that country, to ensure there were no pending court cases, judgments, etc.
Everyone has a past, and as long as it's not criminal, you're fine.
