Does anyone have any information regarding the housing in RT for a single person in a GC10 position? I am considering an offer from SA to work at the elementary school as a teacher. I am a single female from Texas, 30 years old, and I'm worried about the housing situation. I read on someone's post that 10 and under live outside the main camp, in a junior camp. Does anyone know about this? Are these dorm style apartments with only one room? Do grade code 10's not have access to the amenities such as the beach, work out facilities, etc? I'm a bit worried about my life outside of work. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, as I must make this decision in a matter of days. THANKS!!

As a female, you'd be on camp. I *THINK* as a teacher you have access to facilities on camp, but I'm not sure---perhaps a teacher can jump in (I'm not a teacher). The house you'd be assigned would most likely be a one bedroom apartment style place, some are one level, some are 2 levels...small, but you are only one person. Lots of singles on RT, you'd have lots of friends really fast. And the beach is free for everyone on camp!

I am not a teacher but I am almost certain that they have 11+ privleges meaning you can access all the facilities on camp just as anyone else. Also, you will live on camp in the apartment style housing.

GC10 females all live on camp and have access to pretty much all the recreation facilities. Some facilities/groups are officially designated as 11+ but having asked a few people, it seems that restriction is never applied to single females.
Also, as a teacher you should automatically have access to a social network of friends/colleagues. I wouldn't worry about a lack of a social life or recreational activities. It's up to you how involved you want to get but as other people have said, there's plenty to do if you so choose.

I am also interested in what accomodation will be issued . It would be more convenient to know as A) I can decide wether or not I want to take furniture items from here like my own bed, bookcase, drawers, guitar amp etc etc. Or B) Decide not to do the shipment route and Pack everything into 2 or 3 suitcases and buy what I need when I can get it. This will make planning easier and create less stress.

Welcome to RT. I live in RT and have kids in the school. There are several single females that work at the elementary school plus other singles in other areas. The singles here at RT do a lot of things together and seem like a tight/supportive group. Yes the single females have access to all the facilities and groups.

Well, they are asking for my passport now....so I think I might be flying on the 31st of this month....going to RT. Im not taking a shipment now......I need the cash...so will take everything I can on the plane, including 2 guitars if I can. My electric guitar is heaviest......so Im not sure I can take that one...will have to check weight etc...
The next adventure begins..... 8)

Uman, you could always take the guitar as excess baggage if it's important to you. Anything you consider truly important, you should try hard to bring with you. I'm sure you've read lots of lists of items to bring that aren't easy to find in KSA, particularly for a new arrival with limited transportation options to get to shopping facilities.
