Texas, I am definitely looking forward to reading more accounts for you: I'd really like to optimize my first days and weeks in KSA, so any early warnings will help me get prepared.
Here is an update of my timeline:

From what I understand, you may not be receiving a notice from ASC of Armaco indicating that you you have passed BI or Medical. I have not, but understand that I have through inside sources. You may be in the same queue as I, waiting for a visa to be issued. I am guessing that too many are acting by selling houses and quitting jobs after they receive the BI and Med approvals thinking that they are nearly done. That may be causing ASC staff all sorts of grief. Seems that visa issuance and housing availability may be the real reason you (and I) aren't hearing much. No need to get us more excited when the last two pieces are slow to materialize.
The lack of updated communication was driving me nuts for awhile. I have decided that the process will conclude when it does and I am no longer allowing it to bother me. I am hoping that means I have passed my first test of learning to be a lot more patient. Trading instant gratification for patience has its challenges, but hoping it really pays off with added sanity in the end.
Best to all of you! Keep us all updated.

Thank you overland for your input...Boy I hope you are right about that.... but the puzzle is that many people who applied after us, got ther approvals before us and now are getting their visas....
i agree with you, I will let it happen when it happens...

No word on delays. An update on activities since my last post:
* fed ex package for remote medicals July 30th (two weeks after being told by my relo advisor they were being mailed). *Submitted all required tests (chest X-ray and skin tb tests, urine, stool, and blood) by July 31. *Called prescribing Aramco doctor to see results on Aug 8 - all is good and he gave ok to relo adviser. * followed up with relo advisor same day - no return call/email yet.
My relo advisor has not been very responsive so I would presume the cause is a backlog of work from the holiday. Still planning for a mid sept departure - would be nice to confirm the green light sooner than later to move forward on the personal front but it sounds my experience is a good one relative to some others. Keep you posted....

o Danny T & all, It has been 2 months now since my BI file been closed and forwarded to SA. My relo rep said that the holidays and the gigantic number of visas are the reasons for the delay. Anyways, mid sept departure seems impossible since visas need at least 35 days, not to mention the week long Eid holiday this coming week.
Patience...patience

This process is quite the nail-biter. There are NO definites! We are all clear except visa. My visa was rejected on the first pass apparently due to a discrepancy between my formal education and the job classification ASC(?) used on the visa application submitted. Funny as I am a nationally known expert in my field! But rules are rules. That put us back in line for another couple of months.
So now we wait with a sold house set to close at the end of August with a one month rent back that will get us to October 1. After that, we are homeless...but decided to take advantage of what may be a brief window of aggressive home sales.
Hang tough. Getting there is the biggest challenge. If you are waiting on medical, BI and visa, you have entered the "misery phase" as an Aramco colleague puts it. He also says it is survivable...

I have updated my timeline on page 5. Finally, we received the passports with the visas and we should be departing on August 30 Insha. Although, I wanted to get there earlier to have some time to register my high school kids, who will be starting the next day after arrival at Dhahran High School hopefully!! Does anyone thinks it is a problem for arriving late for school (Aramco Schools or Dhaharan High) What are the disadvantages if any?
Sabr (Patience) paid off!! All of you who are still waiting hang tight, it will be just a matter of time.
