Hey all...
it has been 2 weeks now since the BI file was closed...and no news from Saudi aramco yet. How long does it usually take to get all cleared? BI is that last one for me.
Best of luck all

ASC has been very quiet lately. I haven't had any recent communication from them either. But hear that there is progress happening. Gotta be patient...but that is getting harder and harder!

On 6/29, I got the approval for my children school, Which was the last approval I needed to start the visa process. However ASC has not been responsive since then. They actually have been terrible throughout the process by the lack and slow response. I left so many voice mail messages and sent many emails with no or very late response.
I agree with Overland and others patience is needed.

I was told to the Medicals for the visa in Vancouber (and of course I did) and I was instructed to email the results to the visa medical section to confirm that they have all required tests (which I also did a week ago); however, I hav enot heard anything back..neither YAY nor NAY. I tried to call, sent 3 follow up emails and 2 voicemails...no reposne. My guessing is that the person is on Vacation.
LQ1...I got my medicals and kids' school all cleared in the first week, my BI is holding us back right now... hopefully soon though. I am trying to be patient..but at the same time I want to know what's going on because I have another offer on the table....
Best of luck y'all

Myself approaching 3 months for medical and BI clearance. My guess is that KSA is sorting out the housing or vacations are happening.

One of other Canadian fellow who just cleared his BI told me that after his BI file closed in Canada, SA took 20 working days to clear him. You will be hearing something next week. Keep in mind ASC is closed beginning on mid day of July 03rd and will re-open on Monday July 9th. Hope this will help!

o almostcheerful and All..
I have not heard of the closure...that explains why no one is returning my emails or answering the phone. I will try and call today and see what happens.
I have my orientation on Thursday, which means once my BI has been cleared am good to go for visa.... trying to be patient.
*** I just learnt that my BI has been forwarded to SA on June 12th....

It appears that we are all dealing with a lull in communication from ASC. I'm feeling very "pregnant" without a clue as to the "delivery date". Makes it a lot tougher to prepare. Wishing you all some news, soon!

We made it to Dhahran... after approximately 5 and half months! Still pretty quick after reading about other's experiences. The journey here and first 3 days has been very grueling and painful though. Everything from waiting 3 hours in a queue at the airport to not having AC for 24 hours is taking a toll on the family. The best advice I can give is to come without family for the first trip and then go back and get your family after all the issues with housing, transportation, phone, etc... have been resolved (even if you have to pay for your airfare out of your pocket, it is well worth it in my opinion). I will create another topic on the forum with more detailed info about my experience.

Texas:
Congratulations! Half the battle is getting there. Having sat on that bench in immigration, I can relate in part. I was only there for 2 hours...but in the wee hours of the AM. 3 hours with the family must have been quite the welcome! Thanks for the tip on the AC. I have some friends on the ground that have promised to look my new abode over and make certain that it is ready for occupancy. I am going to add AC to that list!
Waiting on the visa and final offer on our end. Still think we are scheduled for mid-August. Have to say...I would swap you places in a moment. My first "half of the battle" is still very active.

Overland: Just curious as to when you submitted your BI and medical questionnaire? I got my offer and only recently submitted my BI and medical paperwork and now I'm just waiting. I assume there will be a delay with the beginning of Ramadan, but I'm just trying to gauge when to put my house up for lease, sell the cars, and get other lose ends tied up before heading to Dhahran.

DannyT: I got my offer letter about 2 weeks later than yours and only recently heard from my relo rep regarding the submission of my background/medical paperwork. Interesting that you've got an estimated departure date. Did you hear anything from your relo rep about possible visa delays given the beginning of Ramadan is July 19?
