o All,
I am a new member to this forum and would like to thank all those who have posted some great insight into the recruitment process. Like many of you out there, I am looking for a little bit of insight into the interview process for Saudi Aramco, specifically in the Power System Planning Group.
Last week I received an email from one of the Aramco recruiters requesting an interview at the Talent Quest in Houston, TX on February 9th, 2012. The email states that I will be interviewed by a member of the Power System Planning Department (which seems in line with Boychicago and AltNRG2011s recruitment process). The email was pretty generic, describing a role of joining a group in the infancy stage that will focus on developing and enhancing power generation strategies. I emailed the recruiter asking what position I would specifically be interviewing for and got a response from a second recruiter that the position was for a "Power System Specialist." I managed to find the posting on the Aramco website, which was posted the day before I was contacted by the recruiter. What confuses me about this particular interview is that I did not apply for this specific posting (as it was not posted back in November 2011 when I originally applied) and that the job requirements are well beyond my current level of experience (7 years experience compared with 13+ years as “required” and many duties/ responsibilities are well beyond my present scope).
To the Engineering folks who interviewed for their respective positions, where you made aware of a specific position you were interviewing for or was it a generic interview where Aramco wanted to see how you would fit into the Power System Department/Organization?
I would sincerely appreciate any advice that could help me with through this process.

Boychicago et al.:
Has there been any others in the same boat as me, that is moving to a second interview? The general theme here has been 1. interview, 2. offer and 3. then wait.... I have great patience and truly feel I am a perfect fit for the position I'm applying for, but as I read the posts about folks getting positive response, I am concerned that a second interview is a "thanks for the effort, we'll interview you again, but you're really not a fit..."
Has anyone gone to Round 2 and was selected? Please give me some hope (or harsh reality).
My next interview is via Video conference within the next 2-3 weeks I've been told... and would love to hear some feedback from the Power Planning folks (or others) prior to then

Hi There,
I was emailed and called to fly to Houston for an interview next week. I was not given any information about the job, other than it is part of the Power Systems Planning Group (I did not apply for this position). I was able to get in touch with the recruiter and she sent me the job listing, which looks a little odd to me as the qualifications and description of the job are significantly different than my experience (ie 15 yrs experience vs my 7 years, maintenance activities which I have only just gotten into with my present employer, etc). When you folks were interviewed, were you made aware of what specific position you were being recruited for or was the interview just a "general" one for the group.
Furthermore, as the interview is scheduled for next Wednesday (Feb 8) , I am getting a little "nervous" about the fact that I have yet to get my travel information. For those who flew to Houston for an interview, when were final travel arrangements made?
Regards,
CanadianEngg

Good luck with your interview in Houston... I've been through the "fly to Houston" thing and although everything came together very last minute, it is well orchestrated and planned when you arrive.
My experience was also the same, the position I applied for was slightly different than the postion interviewed for... I'm sure you can "roll with it"... as a hiring manager myself, if I saw some qualities that'd fit a position I'd inquire further too.... seems that's what they're doing...
Best of luck!

o guys,
What is the sequence of events for a successful interview? Do they request your paystubs and universitiy diplomas before extending an offer? Especially for those who gets the offer very quick, when do they request your salary information?
Another question is about the medical examination. What are the things that might render an applicant unfit for the job? I usually have a high blood cholestrol levels.. is this something that might make prevent me from working for Aramco?

I was interviewd for Power system specialist. I was surprised to get the call from armaco, because i did not even apply for this position, beside that I am a process automation person with experince in process industry. I refused to fly to houston for interview since i had the feeling that it will not worth to fly there and give interview for a position which is not in line with mt profile, i might not be selected. So they arrange it on skype with a panel interview. The interview was so general and 10% technical questions. And the very next day i got the call to send more details about pay stub. I want to know if all of you have same kind of experince in interview. I expect them to pay me atleast 190k$ per year to make a move, will they do that I am ready earning in Canada 130k per year. So how much will they pay for 11yrs , MS degree from Canada. how much should i ask and how process after interview starts.

zcanada, I'd recommend sending in the info. If you get an offer, you can negotiate salary, if it's not to your liking, you can turn it down.
yes, interviews can go just as you've experienced.

o Fellow Power System Planning Group members. I am wondering if anyone might be able to share their experience when it comes to the recruitment process.
As I wrote earlier, I applied for a position with Aramco and was contacted for an Interview with the Power System Planning Group. I flew to Houston a couple of weeks ago for the interview. I was interviewed by 2 gentlemen from Aramco who had flown in from Saudi Arabia for the Talent Quest. The interview lasted about 1 hour and had a few technical questions, however most of the interview was focused around me explaining my experiences (fairly typical interview). The one thing that did capture my attention was that the hiring manager asked me about my availability. I stated that I am currently involved in some major projects and would like to give my current employer fair warning should an offer be extended from Aramco. The manager stated that Aramco likes to work fast and that they are making decisions fairly quickly. Having read through this forum, I am not so sure if that is the case with some of the potential recruits.
Following the interview, I wasn't sure why I needed to fly to Houston as it did appear that this type of interview could have been performed via video conferencing. As I was leaving the Aramco office, I was told by the recruiter that I would hear back from her within 2 weeks. Fast forward to last week. I was contacted by my recruiter to send my most recent pay stubs along with potential dates for a second interview. The second interview will be a video conference held in a location close to my home city.
I guess what I am trying to understand is what exactly to expect from the second interview. One of the gentlemen who interviewed me was the hiring manager and he was asking the majority of the questions. I felt like he got a good understanding of my experiences and seemed satisfied with the answers I provided for both technical and non-technical questions. It seems "backwards" to me that the second interview is via video conference as opposed to the first. Similar to zcanada, I requested a video conference for my initial interview, but was asked to come into the office for it. And the fact that my recruiter has requested recent pay-stubs, is that an indication of something to come or just "typical" for this process?
On the whole, the recruitment process has seemed a little rushed and chaotic at times, however it has come together when needed. I have been impressed with Aramco as a whole, but did feel that during the interview, I missed out on some key points that were discussed during the orientation when I was in the interview room.

Hi Folks, I had an "interesting" turn of events in my recruitment process. After being contacted to schedule a second interview and sending my previous pay stubs, I was contacted via email by my recruiter with the following response: "I received communication from the department regarding your candidacy – due to organizational changes, the Power Systems Planning department will not be pursuing your candidacy at this time." I'm a little surprised to get this response given that I was asked for a second interview. Did anyone else get this type of response? Oh well, c'est la vie Good luck to the rest of you in your Aramco journey.

After being contacted to schedule a second interview over several weeks, I, too, was contacted via email by my recruiter with the same "due to organizational changes, the Power Systems Planning department will not be pursuing your candidacy at this time" statement... Very disappointing.....very.
I will remain engaged in looking for possible oppotunities with Aramco, hopefully they can get this group pulled together and re-start recruiting for the Sr. leadership positions.... Best to all in your Aramco hiring endeavors!!

Dear all,
first of all thanks for all the inputs , it is really quite useful this forum.
Im in the process to have a first interview with Aramco in London , middle February for the Power Systems- Renewable Energy Group , not sure what position Aramco is thinking on, I seems it will be evaluated as per my background , I sent a few applications mainly for Business Development/Project Management. My profile is mainly EPC Background , with several years experience on Renewable energy (PV , CSP) and Gas-Thermal Plant , with an MBA ongoing.
I have a few doubts about the Renewable Group , what can I expect about the group and possible positions?
How is set the salary and benefits?
Any input would be very appreciate.
Thanks in advance.
