Here is what I think based on my experience thusfar:
(1) The earliest you will get an offer (if they decide to extend you an offer) is 3 working days after you interview in Houston. I interviewed on Thursday in Houston and i had a conditional offer on Monday in my inbox.
(2) The fact that you are still in your interviewing stage, i seriously doubt you will be able to meet all contingencies by the end of the year. My whole process started end of July and i am still waiting for visas.
(3) What is BI? Background Investigation (could take upto 6 weeks) (4) Has anyone learned of the committment that Aramco is putting into the Power Systems Planning Group? My recruiter threw a very large number of investment till year 2020 and the leadership commitment for this organization.Like yourself, I also hope it has bright prospects.

Mozei,
I wish i had an answer for you, and i can understand your frustration but like vpainter has repeatedly stated about patience being the key. IF your Medical Results were all within the normal limits, and you should have been advised about it by your medical processor, and your visa application was fully complete. I dont think there is anything you can do about it at this time but wait. Also you should have added extra pages for saudi visas on your passport to avoid delays, and made sure that the expiration date on your passport was atleast 6month to a year away. At this time, in my experience relocation advisors go mute bcuz it is really not in their control how long the Houston embassy takes to process these visas. Please update us when you get everything sqaured away.
Good luck

Thanks everyone, seems I feel I am relatively in a little advanced stage, got my passport/visa/ticket package today. Interview July, visa stamped first week of Oct, but then housing end of Nov. I realized that ASC almost forgot to send me my ticket for the interview, so idea was to somehow keep in contact. Also 3 common working days between US and Saudi. I used to try to email my relocation advisor, for some reason every Tuesday, to make sure she did not forget my paper work, I guess she was more patient then me and stayed positive.

Thanks Renewable2011.... the prospect for a position seems incredible, I remain optimistic. Speaking with my cousin who takes 1-2 year assignments in the Gulf region for another firm, he claims that there may be a ceiling on the amount of $'s that can be sent out of KSA? Have you heard this?

This is not an issue for Aramco. Aramco direct deposits your pay into an account of your choice.

Thanks VPainter....
Another question: If I succeed in securing a job with Aramco, how much time do they allow you to sell your house, etc. As I am considering putting this task to my wife, she would stay behind until it's sold, then join me in SA... does Aramco allow this type of arrangement?

Altnrgy, as you go thru the process you will realize that Aramco encoues you to not make any financial decisions ( that includes selling house) till you have a final contingency approval Letter stating you have cleared all the contingencies. After the visa is granted you have 90 days to travel to KSA after that your visa is not valid. So cynically speaking you have 90 days to sell your house, however people take chances, I took a chance and put my house in the market after my background investigation was cleared. You have to make calculated decisions, because you will not have the final contingency approval letter till 3 months into the whole hiring process. Hope that helps. BTW I just now got my contingency approval letter and I travel to KSA on December 2nd. Good luck, and let me know if you have more Qs

Altnrgy, I might have misunderstood your question initially, so aramco really doesn't care how long it takes to sell the house, they pay you 16k as long as you can show that your house is on the market with a real estate agent etc. If you can show the listing, you get 16k. It can probably be a year, please check with your relocation advisor, you probably can't get them to answer the phone so it is best you shoot them an email

Hi, Does anyone have an idea about how big the group is going to be? I have been offered a position in the power systems planning department and hope to join once all the visa formalities are over. Does anyone know what the bachelor accomodation in the main camp is like? I'd appreciate it if someone could provide pictures.

Hi PowerSystems, Congrats on the offer! Can you tell me what the interview process was like? Did they ask any specific power system questions or was it just going over you work experience etc?
Thanks Powereng

well ..be ready for more of a discussion. They may ask specific questions in line with your experience... if they have given you an interview date, there must be something on your CV that they like... so make sure that you know your stuff! thats about it.. good luck with the interview!

mkhan (et al.): My interview was held recently in Houston by two very friendly gentlemen... it was certainly not an inquisition, in fact, it was quite conversational. Mostly they asked about my background and experience relevent to the position... be prepared to to "self-promote" as appropriate....
I just received notice that I have a second interview coming up for this postion and was curious if any other Power Systems Planning folks went to a second round....
Thanks!

I also had my interview for a power system engineering position in the power system planning department on 12/5, an offer was extended to me the following week. I was also interviewd by the two gentlemen, one was the head of the power system planning department, atleast that was what my recruiter told me. Hopefully you will have successfull second interview.
