Hi everyone,
Thank you for the constant forums and information provided by all the members here. Want to ask everyone's opinion about the offer I have received.
I am currently a manager with 11 years' experience. I have worked for mostly well know organizations such as DuPont in these 11 years. I have bachelors and master's from Texas A & M.
My current base salary is 123k USD and my total yearly compensation is 178k USD. Aramco has offered me a Grade 12, with Regular earnings (Base-83K+Overbase+Supplement) at 133k and variable earnings (bonus+airfare) at 41k. So total Aramco package is 175k USD.
Based on the information from these forums, I assumed I would have a higher grade and better pay. We are from Canada, and if we sell the house, we don't have to pay taxes, so there will be more take home savings compared to now. Has Aramco lowballed me both with grade and pay. If so, should I reject and move on. I have been told by some that for this position Aramco hasn't really negotiated, and once of the reasons why I got the offer after 4 months was because others before me had rejected the offers given to them.
I have not accounted for the loss of income when my wife would have to leave her job in the numbers above.
Thanks!

o, I am in the exact same situation as you, I've actually wrote a long email explaining the loss of income of my wife so as the bonus that will be missed - and agreed for a good % increase. Unfortunately, it is based on current income and mine is way below market for someone with my experience.

Thank you for the reply. My base pay is actually decent at 123k, but Aramco's base offer is only 83k. How much percent increase were you able to negotiate o, I am in the exact same situation as you, I've actually wrote a long email explaining the loss of income of my wife so as the bonus that will be missed - and agreed for a good % increase. It won't hurt to try a bit of negotiation

HI everyone! This message is for darthmole. Congrats on getting 25% uplift! My partner is in the same situation for negotiations. They came back with a very low (barely much) revised offer.. this is our first attempt to ask for an uplift. My question is or may I ask how many times did you negotiate to get the 25% uplift? (Eg. number of revised offers) TYIA

I am into numbers and curves, so I built a solid case over two/three pages including market data on why I am at the lower end from base salary and how existing total comp (which includes non-pay check commissions) will be higher than Aramco, lost partner salary and lost end of year bonus as well which justified the 25% uplift, I've read in the negotiation thread that a lot of individuals managed to get similar so that gave me confidence to proceed forward, at the end of the day it have to work for both of us. Only one email back and forth and a revised offer.

Hey Orm,
How long it take to receive a positive feedback post interview?
I am in a same situation. 4-5 weeks from Interview and haven't heard anything. I am assuming they offering someone atm.
Thanks

That’s really not a great offer. I’d be looking for at least double current base for it to be worthwhile. This might be a less in real terms depending on your current tax situation. Do also consider your yearly increase. (If any) will be minimum at best.

orm - you forgot to include the Incentive plan in your calculations (1.5-2 months gross salary as a yearly bonus depending on your PMP & Aramco's performance) and also other things like EAP for schooling (if sending your kids to boarding school in their later school years is a consideration)

Hi @mcshane, Apparently, they are not counting my three years research experience and effectively making my years of experience to be 8 and I am wondering if that has played a role in giving me grade 12. Regardless would it even be plausible to negotiate doubling of the base pay. Max, I have seen in these forums is between 15 to 25%

I did add the bonus in my personal calculations, but even with that if I have to pay tax, I would actually make less, if my wife's income stops (which it pretty much will as there are no roles for tech in Udhailiyah). I hope Aramco doesn't expect me to sell my house for employment. The recruiter tried to sell the school thing too, but over here school is free and they are pretty decent, so for me it was never a benefit, just a replacement of what I already get here through my taxes.

Will the aramco offer cover lost earnings from your wife not being able to work? I’d seriously consider running the numbers. Has to be a big deal for it to be worthwhile in my view. Cash is king, do not forget!

Additionally, Udhailiyah is lot less populated and more remote from large city than Dhahran, which will make it tougher on you & prob more specially on family IMO. Aramco nor any other company expects or can force you to sell your house due to accepting a job. That’s a personal decision. Aramco use to reimburse for some of the home selling cost, at least for US passport holders, but that was done away with years ago.
