Hi Guys,
Sad new, I had acceped my offer as a Data Scientist for the Unconventional group. I got a call today saying that my offer has been cancelled.
The RA said that most other Upstream positions have been cancelled.
Hope others have better news than mine.

I guess for people like myself whose offers have not even been issued yet there won't be even a phone call.

I'm sorry to hear that. What happened? Did they provide more specifics on whether they will contact you later on once things are better, or any future hope?

They just that it was cancelled because of the current circumstances. This was on the phone. I asked her if there is a possibility that the job my re-open up but she said that she didn't have any information. I wonder why they didn't send me anything in writing. Should I ask for it formally as an email?

There is no harm in asking. The position may reopen in the future. No one knows. And you may be reconsidered particularly that you had an offer. I was at visa Medical stage when lockdown happened. Haven’t heard a thing since. It’s a waiting game. I was told that Aramco will only ask candidates to resign from current job when all stages are completed and visa is issued.

o-
Hope everyone is safe and good.
Anyone receive a email from Aramco recruitment? We had one saying that "Aramco was ensuring safety during covid, and to keep your attention on future posted roles. If any questions contact RA." The same job is still posted. The final message seems a little unclear. Maybe job is cancelled? Is all I can take away at the moment. Best to everyone.

I'll shoot them an email. I'm in the process of being paid for my degrees that were attested. I'm self employed (consultant), so I still didn't give up on finding new work, But in this current environment finding work is also difficult. Is your role upstream?

As the offer letter is conditional to you passing Background Investigation, medicals and visa they as you not to quit your job until you have cleared the those.

Yes email after interview, information submitted, but no formal offer to date. I have received the same email for the talent community. I haven’t received any feedback after my February interview. I checked Aramco job website and found that the job has disappeared. The recruiters are ignoring my emails which gives me clear indication that the job is canceled. I wish my recruiter told me what was the interview outcome, and later if the job is canceled instead of leaving me under fake hope. I would definitely understand the decision. I’m thankful to my current situation when I look around me and see people losing their jobs or asked to take unpaid vacation or getting salary reduction. Therefore I would understand Aramco’s desicion nonetheless the communication need to be enhanced.

Much as the lack of news is frustrating for those of you at the varying stages of interview, offer etc, - you really do have to accept that things are the way they are.
We have had no international passenger flights into or out of the Kingdom since late March. All land borders have been closed since the middle of March.
After a period of 4 weeks during Ramadan with a 3pm - 9am curfew (including a 4 day total lockdown)it has just yesterday been relaxed to 8pm - 6am. Life is starting to move a little closer to normal, but it is going to take many months before normality is resumed. We still even with this relaxation still have some of the toughest precautions in the world against this virus.
Finally, if Aramco recruitment are telling you nothing, it is because they know nothing - and they likely will know nothing for a while yet. If it happens, it happens and good luck to you in your career with Saudo Aramco. If it doesnt happen, then it's the one that got away. Good luck to you in that future career also.
It is what it is

Agreed. It's a time of uncertainty and really this isn't a surprise for Aramco to put things on hold, given there is no flights. My best to everyone and stay safe. Thank you for the conversations.

I have had a discussion with HR in London and I found out that due to COVID and oil price some decisions were taken for expat hiring. one of the was to freeze hiring process for expats, some position were cut from organigram. for some key positions the hiring process will continue but almost all processes will be restarted when COVID crisis will be contained and when oil price will be at a certain level. I found out that the position I was started hiring process was cut but I was declared professionally qualified for a future job when conditions will be better, maybe in 2021 or earlier.
