Hey All,
Thanks in advance for answering this question. I am based out of India.
A job consultant had asked for my resume way back in April 2018 for opening in Aramco. I applied and finally they conducted interview on 18th July 2018. on 27th July 2018 they confirmed that i have been selected and they will come back with an offer letter shortly, In meantime they sent me couple of forms to be filled and also sent me a list of documents required and 11 photographs in a fixed format. I complied and sent everything in 2 days .
Now my query is
1) Its been 2 months since their last response and submission of all the forms but till date they have not respond. job consultant who is based out of Mumbai India has no idea He says it will take some time for approvals and due to Hajj also in between things are getting delayed but they wil send the offer letter surely. Is it true? and does Aramco taken this much time to send offer letter normally?
2) What is the background check they will run and do I have to inform my previous company ?
Thanks

hi. it usually takes upto 4 months for the offer to come. did they ask for your degree legalization yet. what position did u apply for Hi Steve, No they have not got in touch with me regarding degree attestation yet. I applied for Marketing and Supply Chain ( MS & JVC) .. I got in touch with authorities here for getting my degree attested but they said that for attestation they require offer letter from the company which I dont have.. but 4 months is a long time. Can I get in touch with anyone in Aramco to know whats the status? Thanks

Hi there Maddy and Steve
It has been said more than once on this forum that there is a different concept of time in the middle east and Aramco in particular. You really do just have to be patient. Probably worth keeping in touch with whoever your contact is (not Aramco HR - they have outsourced this process for a reason) but if they can update you I imagine that they will. Probably not a good idea to hound them though. Once a month to let them know that you still exist and so that you haven't fallen down the cracks might be about right?
There could be many reasons why you are not being progressed quickly. Ramadan, Eid, vacations of key staff, summer time, a delay in the likely departure of the person you are replacing, a decision that they won't be moving etc etc etc. You may well be an ideal candidate and you are still on the list but for whatever reason they don't have an opening right now - even though there appeared to be one before.
I believe there are very large numbers of these applications outstanding and to regularly update everyone isn't feasible although I know that you may be working somewhere where it is made to happen. This process is part of the initiation of what it is like to work in the middle east and Aramco. The timescales above would indicate that if you are not already really upset that you have the stomach for it!
To give you an idea that you are not alone my timeline is roughly: first tentative discussions nearly 3 years ago now. 21 months ago more positive discussions, 9 months ago further discussions. Interviews first quarter this year (with different departments). Negotiations second quarter. Offer letter start of 3rd quarter. All documentation provided and medicals had in about 4 weeks. Confirmation to resign about a month ago. Starting end of November.
As you can see patience is very much key (although my waiting was to get to have an interview). Once they decide to push ahead it could be that things happen rather rapidly. In the meantime carry on with life and work as if it isn't going to happen. You can have a nice surprise if and when it does.
Very best of luck with it all.

My mistake was that I resigned from my current company without getting the offer from Aramco and now I am at home. Didnt knew about my timeline and the job consultant also never told that it takes so much time. Anyways since the only way is to wait will do that and hope for the best.

Wow - ouch!
My consultant was at pains to indicate that I should not resign until specifically instructed to do so (as you can see from my comment re being given instruction to do so recently) and the documentation I was sent was quite explicit.
If they didn't do the same with you, it might be worth letting them know that the delay is causing you some serious hardship but you are likely to be stirring up nest making it more likely that you are not offered anything... Tough place to be in - sorry to hear. Definitely look for a job in the meantime as you can always resign from that one when the offer comes though (may well be teaching you to suck eggs there - apologies if that is the case).
Very best of luck.

well thats not good. after reading through the posts i definitely wont resign on the current job. also aramco is going to give instructions on when to resifn from the current position, however once it has happened that even after giving instructions to resign, aramco has put the offer on hold in the past. people have resigned, sold their houses and they have got this news that the offer has put on hold (search about this on this forum and sure enough you will find it).

Thanks both. Hope they come with offer soon Word of advice (i'm not with Aramco but another major US company in KSA), not to resign from work until you have Visa in hand. There could also be issue with getting Visa due to various reasons (Medical, political etc) Also, keep in mind things can change drastically here and may not be worth to sell your house etc. for example our company announced that they are taking away roughly 50% of "salary" at contract re-newel. base salary will remain same but reducing 3 home flight to 1 flight, ending of uplift/living allowance which was roughly 10% of salary, ending of 20% yearly bonus. and increased work hours from 40hr/week to 48 hours per week. and ending of education allowance for kids.

I imagine (but am not certain) that when the employee is on an indefinite contract the changes described above would be less likely as there isn't a regular "renegotiation"... Or am I a million miles off the pace here?

you are correct in assumption. What I am trying to say is always have an exit plan. I know people in my current company who sold everything in home country and moved to KSA thinking they will spend next 5-10 years in KSA. 6 months later due to reduction in force and as per 2030 KSA Vision of Saudization, he was let go (no due to his performance). He was devastated with family and kids no more home and job. Everyone situation is different.
But I would not assume anything just because you are on indefinite contract or on a contract. You can be terminated at anytime just like with any employer you are working in this world.
