o All, I just got offer from ARAMCO in code 13 with family status. Aramco is now not giving company owned house. They are giving Rental assistance allowance(RAA).In my offer they gave me as below statement. "RENTAL ASSISTANCE ALLOWANCE (RAA) RAA Unaccountable: 3x monthly base salary; no cap; minimum payment of SAR 20,000 for Single status and SAR 30,000 for Family status."If my base is not more than 25K.then i will get 75K SAR for RAA(3 Basic). 1. But Can i choose villa/house with rent of 120K or 150K SAR annually? 2. Will company pay extra amount on 75K SAR? 3. What is NO CAP in RAA statement? Appreciate if anybody make me understand? Thanks.

I don't understand what you mean by: If my base is not more than 25K. Can i choose villa/house with rent of 1.2 or 1.5 Lac annually? Appreciate if anybody make me understand? And what is Lac?
My understanding, which echoes what you said is that irrespective of base pay, singles and family status employees will receive 20 SAR and 30 SAR respectively.
Maybe someone can answer your question if you could clarify what you mean by 1.2 or 1.5 Lac annually.

A lakh or lac (/ˈlæk/ or /ˈlɑːk/; abbreviated L) is a unit in the Indian numbering system equal to one hundred thousand (100,000; scientific notation: 105). In the Indian convention of digit grouping, it is written as 1,00,000. Lakh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Lakh

In order to assist you more information is required such as which payroll you are on (global or other) and whether you are single or family status. There is also the confusion regarding currency. RAA is quoted in SAR. All queries should relate to amounts in this currency.

I understand that you is from India. For your kind information the house rent in saudi arabia is around 2000 to 3000 SAR per month and annually it will be approx 36000 SAR and not in lakhs. Moreover you will be paid 3 times of your basic pay as House Rent Allowance per year. With which you can manage very lavishly. So no need to worry. Regards, Mohammed Riyaz

Dear teebot12 & Dear welshman, Thanks for your reply.
1.2 Lac means 120000 SAR. I am in Grade-13 Engineer II with family status ( Global pay role).
I mean to say here in my question is : suppose i am getting 3 X basic RAA = 100000 SAR. But in Khobar if i not getting good 2 BHK house within 100000 SAR,Then can i choose 120000 SAR house? So extra 20000 will pay Aramco?
In my offer letter they mentined RAA= 3 X Basic unaccountable , NO CAP.
Please suggest. Thank you.

My understanding is that you will receive the housing allowance in a lump sum, and you can do with it what you please. Your rent can cost more or less than what your housing allowance is based on your personal preferences.
If base salary is 25k SAR, then your housing allowance would be 75K SAR per year. You can easily find a flat/apartment for much less than that. Renting a house or villa may cost more than 75K SAR based on size and location. Renting in a compound will always cost more. There are many options. It depends what you want and need.

All figures quoted are for someone on bachelor status. If you are on married status your accountable amount of RAA will be higher than the figures given here

Good Morning Bhumi 2482, The main thing that will affect your RAA over you 3 X base unaccountable is which payroll you are on. Again, as stated elsewhere you will receive 3X your base salary without the need for you to provide evidence of how much of this amount you are actually spending on rent. No cap means you get this full amount. Anything more than this amount paid as rent will be your responsibility. Accountable means you have to produce documentation ( usually your rental contract) in order to receive this payment. Again Aramco will pay only up to the limit shown. The problem is I believe Asian payroll amounts are different to Global payroll amounts and therefore someone from Asian payroll who is taking RAA really needs to confirm the amount you will receive.

Hi Welshman, I contacted RO and she said(UK based Aramco office) NO CAP means "NO LIMIT" But she is not giving minimum and maximum figure for choosing house. In my case 3XBasic as RAA is not good to choose selective house. Please suggest what to ask RO for clarification? Thanks Welshman for reply.

Hi Bhumi2482 - no cap/no limit means as per my previous post. If you pay less rent than your 3 X base salary you get to keep the rest. Obviously it would appear that your concern is this amount of RAA is not enough to provide "suitable" housing for your family. I live in an Aramco compound so I am afraid I am unable to comment on the current going rate for accommodation in KSA. Also I am global payroll. Your RO needs to provide you exactly what you total amount of RAA will be based on your payroll group, base salary and family size. They have all of this information to hand. Don't accept multiples of base salary and terms such as no cap/limit, ask for the specific figure you will get for RAA based on the above.
