o everyone,
Congratulations to all the WoVers who received their visa les recently, and good luck to all those still waiting. I received my visa le on August 12th, and my visa packet was sent off to the Canadian consulate on August 14th for processing and I have not received anything back as of yet.
My question for those who received their stamped passports back, where will you be living? I have heard rumours that ABQ, RT, and Dhahran are all full, so I am just curious what your relocation advisors have told you as to where you will be located either temporarily or permanently? I am going over as a single male, so it would be great if everyone could share their family status as well to give us all a better idea, as our relocation advisors should be notifying us as to where we will be staying 10 days in advance of the departure date to KSA.
Thanks,
tvdloo

I will leave on Sept 23rd. My rel. adv mentioned Rakah and the tower before but for now no confirmed house yet. I will go as a bachelor and family joining me next year.

Does any one know if how well in advance AOC can confirm your housing? Is it literally a week before departure or have the been telling well in advance? I think with apartments, there is no point bringing in furniture but with houses you can bring. So how come one can either pack or sell all there possessions on 1 week notice?

I received notification earlier today that my visa le had been obtained. According to my relocation advisor, the final determination on housing will be provided 1 week before we actually board the plane to KSA. However, she told me that if I was able to leave early enough, we could likely secure a spot in Rakkah. Alternatively, it would be Abqaiq or Dahran Tower.

I arrived about a month ago: single male living in RT. As far as I can tell, not all of the single male housing units are occupied. However, it's difficult to say which ones have been assigned to new hires. Many are currently being renovated and refurbished. If you're assigned to RT, feel free to PM me.

Hi BBQ10 - I am unable to PM anyone on this forum at present. I am due to arrive shortly and work at RT refinery although my RA tells me I currently will be housed in Rakah. I will be on bachelor status and would be grateful for any info you have regarding availability of single male housing and what the accommodation is like, what is in the property when you arrive etc (I know these are covered on the forums but as you are a new arrival you are best placed to provide current information). Thanks

We arrived 2 weeks ago and are in DT. We were told 2 weeks before our arrival we would be here and were expecting Rakkah. I've been in close contact with housing regarding Rakkah and who gets placed there. The last official email I received said that Rakkah was strictly for US citizens and anyone GC15+.

Hero55,
I can say that I have two co-workers that they were living in ABQ and commuting to DHA and they took the option to move to DT to reduce the highway exposure and commute time.
One of them has a family with three small children and the other has no children.
My point is that maybe for them the tower is better than the ABQ compound living but for other ones may not be.
You may need to check all options.
Good luck

Hi This is Nada, me and my family will arrive to Saudi Arabia by 25 Sep, and as we know from our relocation adviser we will be in Rakha compound. Kindly can any how is living there provide me with recent photos for the villa and areas of the rooms this will be really useful for me because I have kind of bulky furniture.
Thanks

Hi O&GEngg
Do you know how full Aramco's share of DT is ? Any rumors of what other accommodations are available- since DT and ABQ are almost full? I am planning for a November start.

Aramco is working on finishing up a new compound somewhere near DHTower. We don't know for sure where it is compared to the tower but we've been told it's close. No real other information about it at this time other than it "should"/insh be ready sometime in the fall. The nice thing is that being decently close to DHTower will allow us current residents to assist all of the newcomers at this new compound which is more than what we had here in the tower.

Hi O&GEngg Thanks very much for your great info here and there.. My very old gbp contract (signed on summer 2013) said that living place is abq and working place is DHA. Now my RA don'twant to reply where I am going to be placed. I expect to get my visa hopefully this week. Let's assume that I will relocate before the end of Sep. What is the current possible options I may have for accommodation ? Any idea or expectations ?
Thanks.
