Pat1703,
Because you have a boy and girl, you should be allocated a three bedroom. people with 2 children the same have been allocated 2 bedroom.

Is there a space in the two-bedroom units, like a den or a study, that could be utilized as a third bedroom? Even kids of the same gender need their own space sometimes!

I'm GC13 w/ wife and 3 kids - we were initially assigned a two bedroom in the tower. Housing must be extremely tight. After several phone calls and emails we've since been upgraded to a 3 bedroom.

Can you please send me those numbers in housing so I can ask them about a different apartment. With a big boy and girl I want to press for a 3 bedroom and avoid world war 3

I didn't speak to anyone in housing; all of my conversations were with my relocation advisor.

Not really. They gave us a 2 bedroom and it's pure chaos. The boy and girl aren't used to it, won't do it and I ended up sleeping on the couch just for peace sake.

They shouldn't have to get used to it. I hope you are in contact with housing in Dhahran.
Sent you an email and PM.

A whole bunch of us were down for housing orientation yesterday and spoke with the housing supervisor. I was told (quite sternly in fact) that this would be our permanent residence and that we would be able to bid on other properties after two years. This is contradictory to what I was told by ASC Houston prior to moving. ASC Houston said that we would be here until something opened up in another camp that would be more suitable for our family of 5. Housing in DHA was less than helpful and was certainly not compassionate to our very unique situation.
All of that being said, we are trying our best to make the tower work and it is getting better (for our family) every day. Also, it will be a lot better when school starts and the kids are our and about.
Let's not forget...much of the same growing pains that we are going through here in DHTower are very similar to what the residents at Rakah went through last summer. At the end of the day our situation in the tower is just like our overall experience here in KSA: it is what we make it.

That last post is a little concerning. We have also been told that the Tower is a temporary arrangement until our permanent residence comes up. We have been expecting all along to receive a 3 bed place. 2 beds in the Tower for 6 months or so is absolutely fine but if that's the permanent arrangement this is very different to what we have been led to believe. It will be difficult.
I appreciate there is a shortage of housing, but this is clearly a key concern- especially since we have our surface shipment that we are expecting to store and then move into our permanent residence.

We have a boy and a girl sharing a room in a 2 bed apartment too and it is far from ideal. Have been told we are on a wait list for 3 bed apartment with many others. In reality with many new arrivals coming in it is going to be a very long wait. The lady at housing was very helpful. Will need to keep visiting regularly.

Crawchie,
Huh...must've had someone different than I did. We will also be visiting regularly too.
My new approach to housing: the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I've set a reminder in my calendar to pay them a visit.
