Hi all
Thank you for the very helpful info. My wife and two kids (boy 2.5 yrs and girl 0.5 yrs) are planned to move to rakah. She is very nervous that there wont be opportunities to meet up other parents and children in the compound. can you please share your views and experience. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I was advised today from my department that we will be assigned to Rakah.
Look forward to meeting everyone soon... We arrive in country Mar-26 PM, but what I heard from the board, it will probably be Mar-27 early AM :-)

PAO13,
There are around 100 pre-schoolers on site and some activity on almost every day. Your wife will have no problem meeting others. If you search on earlier threads you will find other details about this.

o everyone, Its been a week since we moved here... So far everything is good. I have a 7yr old son and a 5yr old daughter. I didn't get time to get involved in the community much since my kids are still jet lagged. I would appreciate if anyone can add me to the rakah resident fb page. My id is mals8526@yahoo.com

o all,
Assigned Rakah room 130X. We have two girls ages 3.5 and 4.5 years. Do we have a community message board or calendar to find some activities for our Kiddos?

Hi all. Been in Rakkah for 3 days now. So far so good. Very good first impression of the compound and especially of the people who are all really helpful. Would it be possible for someone to add me to the facebook social page please? My email is topsakalidis@gmail.comThank you

I just arrived yesterday, and I'm in the Rakah compound. It's actually pretty nice here aside from the extreme humidity. But it's not too different honestly from the way it was in South Carolina... I was pleasantly surprised that the housing comes with pre-installed internet (wired & wifi), and cable TV service. Of course there was no TV in the home, but there's cable here when I get one. I'll probably just rent one until our shipment arrives. Otherwise the provided furniture is decent, and of course free of charge.
For now though it is just me living here until the family joins me in 2 (-ish) months. I think I will venture out today or tomorrow to see what I can find.

Glad you made it! We seem to be waiting for the log jam in Rakah to clear, or perhaps the housing clearance folks to return from an extended Eid break.
Are the accommodations pretty much like the brochure?

Well Rakah does not nearly have all the amenities that the Main camp does. But I can say one thing, the housing here at Rakah is very nice. It's actually quite large and well furnished. Clean and well built too. I have very little to complain about with regard to the housing. To be honest the housing here in Rakah is better looking than any picture I saw before I departed. This place is actually nicer than the house we had in South Carolina, and that was a decent house too.
Now there is an activity center in the middle of the compound, and I went there yesterday. Basic small commissary/grocery store, bowling, rec room that they use for movies, a gym, and pool. There's more but it was very late when I walked through last night.
But all and all, I doubt to many people would be disappointed with the housing unless you are moving from a million dollar home...

Hi all,
I have just moved into 1331 - I hope that you are all well. Is there a Facebook group - it would be great to get in contact with a few folks and get to understand the lay of the land!
Thanks
Ian
