o kittycat, we are also a family from Montreal and my husband is also an engineer, he got his offer beginning of October, and we are still in the process of IB and medical check ups. You seem to be 2-3 months ahead of us. I just thought it would be interesting if we stayed in touch during this long process, I have a 9 year old boy and a 7 year old girl, they both go to French schools and I still haven't decided what's the right way to go in terms of continuing their French education outside of aramco or moving them to the American system. How are you dealing with the amount of decisions that need to be taken? Wish you all the best and hope to here from you. PM me at anytime.

o Zox, I'm really happy to find a Canadian french family it will be great to keep in touch. we decided to go with the french school Lycee Francais Khobar. I should send them the application form this week to check the availability. It's part of the mission laique and my son already in similar school. Aramco will cover the tuition fees we have to apply for it once we arrive there. It will be a lot of change for him so at least i will keep him in french environment for now. will let you know once i get a response from them. Good luck and PM me if you have any questions.

Hi All,
My husband has been offered a role at SA and to date everything has been quite quick, no more than 2 weeks between anything.
We are in the process of medicals etc and once this is all done from my reading on the forum we will just be waiting on Visa Block's.
I understand we will receive a letter when to resign, however we would like to resign earlier and use the time waiting to travel - I have seen this can be anywhere between 2 weeks and 9 months, which is fine for us, but is there situations where the role can fall through once you are at the stage of waiting on a visa? Or can anyone provide a little more info on when it is definite but just a waiting game?
Thanks Sarah

With the uncertainty in the market right now (with oil dropping below $50/barrel), I would advise against quitting your job before ASC say it's OK to resign from your current job. For me, that would be too risky...Once you get over here, travel to exotic destinations will just become a regular part of your life, but NOTHING is certain until you get the letter from ASC to resign. And even then, nothing is certain until you get on the plane...and even then, nothing is certain until you meet your probation period...!
My advice would be: quit only when they tell you it's OK to.

And yes, people have not been able to get a visa, a rarity, but would not be good for you to quit and then not be able to come.
