I have now been here for 10 weeks.
A lot of forum posts have talked about bringing one's own microwave. I am not really sure why. There are microwaves sold in the big box stores here like Lulu and Extra. Since they are 220, they are going to be more powerful. Even beyond that, I am waiting for my microwave in my shipment, so I still don't have one because I followed that advice. (Plus, it added to the cost of my shipment.)
Perhaps microwaves were not really good here in the kingdom a few years ago. Is there any other reason why people should bring one instead of just buying one?

Isn't Rakah 110V throughout (other than a couple plugs for fridge and dryer)? Wouldn't you have to get another one of the outlets in the kitchen converted to 220V in order to run a microwave that you purchased in KSA?

I think you may be able to request them to change (maybe up to two?) outlets for you ...we've not had this done, but maybe someone else can comment.

You can have up to two circuits changed from 110V to 220V. This is 2 x 6 = 12 (double) outlets

There are no buses to ABQ. I can't answer your other question about the internet.

Dimk,
To go to ABQ, you need to go to DHA first and then take another bus from there, I haven't done it but know that it is possible, you will need to check the schedules once you are here to see what could work for you.
In regards to the internet, this comes out of the same connection from the cable company, not sure if it is optic fibre or what. Cheers!
