Can I put bathroom supplies (q tips, non-prescription medicines, shampoos) or foods (non-perishable snacks for kids, etc) in the ebox or must these items go in my checked luggage/dish barrels?
Thank you!

I think they could all go in your ebox. I would put the shampoo in ziplock bags in case they leak.
Will depend on your shipper, what is allowed in the ebox.

Okay, thank you! I didn't know if liquids could go in ebox. Yay! 2 more weeks until lift off!

We were told no liquids or gels in the Ebox as it was unaccompanied luggage. They allowed the other bathroom supplies (q-tips etc) in the ebox. Shampoos / creams etc were allowed in checked baggage but our packers wouldn't accept them in the e-box. What we didn't put into our luggage ended up being shipped in the sea shipment.

gB... when you said the rest went into your sea shipment....can shampoos and the like be put in sea shipment? I was thinking it was no liquids all around in sea shipment.
Thanks so much for your help. Trying to get as much done today as possible until I can get more info from shippers and guides.

Our packers allowed the shampoos and gels etc in the sea shipment. That being said, we have not received the sea shipment as of yet so they may be confiscated / removed before they ever arrive here. I agree that the process/info was somewhat confusing and we seemed to have gotten mixed messages but given we had no other choice (we had already weighed what was going into the checked baggage) we sent them through with the packers knowing full well what was going into each box.... The packers were most fixated on the e-box contents though. I would assume/accept whatever they tell you but if you have questions, do not hesitate to ask or call up the moving company. That's what the move coordinator is there for....Good luck with the packing. It was definitely the most stressful part of the whole experience for us...

For what it's worth, we were surprised at how much stuff we could cram into the dish barrels, which we cut down to size. We were consistently between 60 and 70 lbs, using the vacuum bags, although I think our last box, #12 (4 people, 3 boxes each; with 4 rolling carryon and 4 backpacks, as reported to our relocation advisor as we were waiting in the lounge before our flight, it turns out we were the talk of the Aramco arrivals department), was closer to 80 lbs. (I don't exactly know, because we packed the scale in that box when it was only at 45 lbs or so, and then my wife -- well, and I -- crammed a bunch of last-minute items in there. Happily, the United check-in person looked at the boxes, groaned, asked me for the weight, and just had someone move them from the pile to the belt without actually weighing them.)
For the record, the 12 cut-down boxes juuuuusssst fit in the suburban they sent to accompany the town car, which held us and the carryons. We were like a clown-car, with luggage in lieu of clowns.
Given how much stuff we had in each box, and the fact that we put it all in a garbage bag inside the box (belt and suspenders protection, with ziplock bags, against leaks), we were surprised to find an inspection slip at the very bottom of one of the boxes. It appears the TSA folks are thorough...

We were told by the packers no liquids in the eboxes or sea shipment. We put all of that into our luggage (bagged up in zip locks bags).

Hi CheeseyPouf, That looks comedic already. With 3 kids in tow, I'm sure we will look similarly entertaining So am I correct to think that we are enled to checking in only 2 boxes per person (not 3 as you mentioned)? Or is it 3 due to flying business class (or perhaps due to the airline you used)? Or maybe you chose to pay extra fees?

We flew United for the first leg, and they just waved us through. I thought we were only enled to 2 bags each, and we were ready to pay the extra $200 a bag, but the woman at the counter said that we were allowed 3 bags each; her only concern was whether the bags were oversized (I was ready to fight that fight, as I had cut them down to 62 inches), but her supervisor said they were fine. (Which feeds back into the question of whether you have to cut down the boxes...)
On the other hand, the first box I filled was 80 pounds, so we had to adjust that one and be a bit more judicious about what we put in each box. (Which supports the use of the cut-down boxes, to limit the potential of the double-stuffed cookie. We used plastic hangers as our light fillers, knowing we wouldn't have many on arrival -- our house package included a few, which was nice, but we could support a small Wal*Mart with our collection...) Again, the vacuum bags are the bomb (don't say that in the airport); we were able to stuff a queen-sized quilt and a pillow for each of our two kids into a single box, along with a bunch of other . We didn't put anything but clothes, towels, or blankets and such in the bags, though, because I had visions of those snake-in-a-can toys if the TSA decided to open a vacuum bag when inspecting our stuff.
As always, your mileage may vary.

As I am flying solo with no follow-on shipping, I will be limited to the two 70# boxes. I plan to stuff my microwave's hollow and use vacuum bags for space. As a former airline agent, I can assure you that it is more about weight than size. An oversized box at or slightly above the limit has never brought down an airplane where a smaller box that confuses the weight and balance calculations will.

Aramco does reimburse for excess baggage, should you require more checked bags.

Are you sure Aramco pays for excess baggage if you took cash-in-lieu? My understanding is that if you took the cash-in-lieu, you get no more support for shipping or baggage allowances on U.S. payroll. I am coming in a week and packing now.
