Would you be taxed if you bring in many new items to SA in original packaging? TV, appliances and furniture ?
By the way I never get a response to my earlier question about tax reimbursement by Canada Revenue Agency on new goods you take outside Canada with you.
Thanks to all who take time to respond

In December, many are getting ready to be OOK or have already left. It might take longer to get replies as the season is a very busy one.
I honestly don't remember if we paid anything when our shipment arrived, its been so long ago. So hopefully someone more recent will give you an answer.

Thanks Vpainter, I hope people with recent experience respond. You would think anyone who's shipping new stuff would worry about customs duties.

I seem to recollect my shipping paperwork suggesting that there would be no duty or that Aramco would pay the duty up to a certain value. They recommended that we put receipts for new items with those items so that customs would not come up with something exorbitant. I bought a brand new vertical mill/drill that is in my shipment. It is "hobby" sized to try to comply with the "industrial machinery" ban. We will see what happens.
Meanwhile, I have a new vacuum, steam mop, and microwave coming out in the eBox. It is set to arrive in a week and a half. I will let all know if we get dinged.

I hope you wouldn't end up paying customes Overland, if you don't, it we would be interesting to know if that was mere luck, or if thats special treatement for Aramco staff or if no one is required to pay anyway. If one opts for cash in liue, I'm sure Aramco wouldn't pay. Rather than including the receipt with new stuff, maybe better to use them a bit before shipping...that's if there's really a risk of having to pay customes duties, but will be more hassle removing original packaging and re- re-paking. Will look forward to your update when stuff arrives

Hi Overland,
just following up on this. We are about to move from Canada. The movers will be coming over sometime this week to "survey" our house and we're concerned about being "creative" in presenting new stuff (like the ceiling fans and other appliances) to them for shipment.

We brought in a brand new washer/dryer, grill and vacuum cleaner. No problem, no import duty.
