Hi
I am a posting for the first time and just want to say this forum has been an excellent resource for answering the many questions my wife and I have. One question I do have is what shift pattern do the process operators use on their plants? Is it 8 or 12 hours and could someone please tell me what it actually is?
I am an operator and currently work 12 hour shifts on a 5 week cycle. Weeks 3 and 4 are just the reverse of Weeks 1 and 2 and they we get 10 days off.
Many thanks
James

They work 8 hour shifts, Days 630-1430, Swing 1430-2230, Nights 2230-630.
The cycle is 7 days 2 off, 7 swing 2 off, 7 nights 3 off. This cycle repeats continuosly. I had the 'pleasure' of working this shift cycle for 6 months, its very difficult to deal with as effectively you only have one weekend off in 4.

They usually pick a month to have off and take all of their vacation in one go. Not sure if its the same all over Aramco and if your looking for operators jobs, to be honest Im pretty sure there are no expat operators. You might be better looking at the new joint venture refineries like SATORP in Jubail, Red Sea Refining Yanbu etc where the may need expat operators to help get things up and running
