what are the living costs in Dharan or other Aramco compounds (excluding housing and schooling) for items such as food, car hire, etc.

For my family of four food runs about $1000 US a month. It really depends how much imported versus local you buy and how much you horde.
OSN (cable) runs $80. Vonage is another $30. Netflix is $9.
Misc. cash based items run about 1500 SR a month. That is gas, eating out just misc stuff.
