Hi all! Thanks for posting in this forum, most of the information has been really useful for future Aramco employees moving to SA. We are looking fwd to move to Saudi, and considering the moving/visa process takes a while, we are trying to prepare as many possible details ahead of time. I'm a culinary person who has many cooking books. I want to bring my books and be sure I won't have trouble upon entry with cooking books that include images, recipes, cuts of meat of prohibited items (for instance pork). I wonder how some of you have dealt with this sort of issue when you moved to SA. I have a wonderful book by Thomas Keller, Ad Hoc, that has a pork in the front page. I'm thinking of painting that image with nail polish, and tear some the pages that include pork. Do you think this is over reacting? I'd appreciate your thoughts and suggestions!

We brought all our cookbooks without doing anything to them, no problem. Just prepare some kind of cover for the page with the picture and remove it after you arrive.

I've never heard of anyone having problems with images of pork in a book - cookery or otherwise. We have many cook books, bought and brought in at different times. All have pictures of dishes cooked with pork and I never thought twice about bringing them, nor did we ever have problems with any of them when we brought them.
There's always a possibility that there might be a problem but I would consider it highly unlikely

Thank you Grovewanderer. I decided to stop worrying about the pork recipes in my cooking books, and we are expecting the packers to come next week! Hopefully everything goes smoothly with customs
