I have a job offer that doesn't mention the job tle and only refers the position. I'm a bit confused about the difference between the "position" and "le". My understanding is that the "position" is associated with GC, for example "Engineer 1" position is grade 14, "consultant" is GC 16 etc. The "le" as I understand it is different, this is what's mentioned in the job posting you apply for, for example, " business developer" "project manager" "project coordinator, planner etc."
The question is: did your job offer include the le or just the position? I think when the le is not mentioned this is a reason for concern, as nothing in the contract refers to what is it that you are hired to do. Some like to believe that le doesn't matter, le matters. Would like to hear about your experience if you know about cases where le mentioned in the job post was or was not included in the offer letter.
The second question is can your le include the word "senior" or "consultant" or "specialist" etc.. While your position and GC are of lower grade, for example engineer 1, or engineer 2 etc. Thank you for your help.

Can anyone please help with this simple question
1-Can you ask for the job le you applied for (as in the job posting) to be included in the offer letter, or is it only the position that gets mentioned? 2- Can your job le indicate a higher seniority level than what your position is in the contract. I.e. your position is Engineer 1 or 2 for example and your le is "xxxxx consultant" or "xxxxxx specialist"
Thanks for your help

Many thanks, and I responded back. It seems that several old posts on the forum didn't correctly describe the Grade Codes for Engineering positions, several listings assciated GC 14 with Engineer 1, GC15 with specialist, GC 16 with Consultant. This doesn't seem to be a rule. If anyone on the forum have more information on this please share. Thanks

Canpeng,
The GC and job le you mentioned for engineer are correct. GC14 : Engineer 1, GC15- Specialist, GC16- Consultant, GC17-Senior Consultant, etc.

Thanks Quanta, it looks like this GC description applies in some cases but not all cases. I have seen an actual case for a specialist position with GC14. I'm not sure if this case is an exception.
I asked a question several times and no one was able to answer, are these positions Engineer 1, specilast, consultant different than job les? there are engineers with les like Business Developer for example, that doesn't fit any of those listed. Maybe this means that you can have a le like Buines Development consultant when in fact you don't have a Consultnat position with GC16... I'm not sure really how this works
