Hi everyone! I am in desperate need of help! My husband was offered a position at the beginning of August and we submitted all of our paperwork to move forward. In early September we went to Houston for blood tests and orientation. In early October we were told our medical & BI had cleared and visas would be forthcoming. We were then notified that our visas had cleared and scheduled our departure dates (early Nov for him, the kids and I in late Dec). Two days ago our relo advisor called and told us that I had been denied medical clearance. Needless to say we are at a loss. I have Crohn's and a colostomy, but have not had any symptoms in 9.5 years. We had already met with the movers and now we are being told that only he can go. He spoke with them about a waiver, and they said they can't get one. Can anyone help me? I have contacted a person in med services in Houston, but have not heard back yet. I am willing to submit to any and all tests to see this move go through! Thanks in advance for any and all help!

I am so sorry this has happened to you. The department hiring your husband is who can ask for and get a waiver. If he has a contact in his department he should contact them. Bless.

I am so sorry to hear about that; however, I am not clear on what exactly happened to you? If your medicals were approved by SAMSO, and your visas were granted... who refused your medical? ARAMCO or Saudi Embassy? or is it that your husband's BI and medical were approved and yours was denied?
As vpainter mentioned, your husband's Dept. is the one who can issue a waiver, and I believe you can support that with a detailed report from your doctor explaining the history of the case. Good luck.

That seems very odd! Did both of you receive the final clearance letter telling you to give notice to your current employer, etc.? If so, I find this pretty troubling.

The reloc advisor never gave me (or even showed me) any of the clearance letters. She just told me I had cleared the BI and then the medical, and that she was submitting for the visas, which she did, and they were issued...now this!

o all! Here's the update - Houston was unable to give us any info about why SAMSO rejected my medical clearance. We were told to mail our passports for visa approval (which we still have not gotten back!). They sent the moving company to appraise weight on Sunday, and Tuesday our relo officer called and said they had made a mistake and that my medical had not been cleared by SAMSO. Supposedly they tried to get a waiver but were unable to obtain one. As of this Friday my husband has agreed to go to KSA on bachelor status, because he turned down all other offers once we received supposed clearance. I feel that aramco has put our family in a horrible position, and refuses to give any rational for this decision. In answer to the Bahrain question, I don't feel that paying a huge amount for housing and educating our children is an option. The whole point was for our family to be together and our children to benefit from the supplied education, not to be torn apart and have to pay an exorbitant amount for international education. I apologize if this response seems disjointed, I am typing on my phone, and to be honest the whole experience is infuriating.

sknorman, one possible good thing is that once he's here, he can continue to peion his manager for approval for you to come. I know this is unfortunate and terrible and should never have happened, I hope he can get approval for you to come, or find another job soon that takes him back home. I am sorry this has happened to your family.

Does any one know what conditions exclude you from working for Aramco. Is high blood pressure that is controlled by medication a disqualifer?

kellben,
There are people here with controlled high blood pressure. But no one can tell you if you will be medically approved. Each case is reviewed by an Aramco Doctor and it is up to the doctor who is doing the review to say yes or no. If the answer is no and the department wants a person bad enough, they can get an exception approved.

If you have been symptom free for 9 1/2 years you have a great case. I agree with others you should wait until your husband gets here - he will have much more levee. It would have been Dept decision not to give waiver. He needs to bring all your medical records and talk to his Manager about this when he arrives. One tip - Saudis do not like confrontation so he needs to appeal to their sense of family. They are very family oriented and most will be very sympathetic to your husband being separated from his family. If he can prove that you will not be a financial liability to the company and he will not be missing word days because of your condition I'm sure he will be succesful. Stay optimistic - I'm sure it will work out. His Dept are not going to want to lose him after all the work in hiring him.

Sknorman, any development on your case. I do feel with you and your family. Has your husband arrived in KSA and has he started speaking with his managers about the case.
