o to all: I want to post my experience in houston for orientation and medical exam, in case can be helpfull to the potential candidates going through that route. We flew from florida at 5 pm and arrived later at houston where we were taken by a limo to our hotel in the double embassy at the galleria mall. Nice hotel and very presentable, they offered a good breakfast (for free) from 6-8 and at arrival they will give you instructions for the medical to collect samples. I decided to collect samples same night so I can have a nice breakfast, there is also a shuttle that will take to Aramco headquarters and is faster than a Taxi, 30 mts but you have to ask for it in the morning. Once arrived we were gretted by my reloc. advisor and we were sent directly to medical for blood collection and later for x ray(1-2 pm). in the mean time the morning is for orientation where they are going to give a broad general info on Arabia, housing customs, e box type (they have one so you can see it) and all the info needed and possible you imagine, this is followed by a delicious lunchs and again the advantage of having an interaction with your relocator, so ask all the questions that you want,. after lunch more info, and x ray and transportation to the airport. they told me also that still they have problems with e mail so, they might be delays in replying, and also that visa times are taking 10 days to 2 weeks at max for US candidates, so there you go delays are not so much in visa but in the paperwork as explained my relocator. thank you

Great post!! Thank you so much. So it really is more informative with regards to the relocation aspect, compared to the pre-interview orientation. That's good to know.

Not everyone goes through orientation in Houston. Sometimes it's via web online meeting, with medical tests being done in home city with results sent to ASC. Like everything else with the interviewing and hiring process, everyone has slightly different nuances to the experience.

What if you have small children and the wife is not able to attend orientation? Is that ok?

Your wife is required to attend the orientation.

I came from Florida, and mine was in Houston as well. Stayed at the same hotel, very similar experience, and yes my wife was there too. The hiring process can be long and tedious, but for us it has been worth it.

o to all: they ask me how long it took to this point well since June/July 2012, now regarding if the kids and wife can't get to orientation dont worry they will go later to orientation, no worries there. The other question is if the family is leaving later than 3 months, most likely they will do med exams and orientation close to the departure date of the family. The other point i found altough not always, is that if you have amedical condition or if they need to rush med exams thay will do exams in houston, as with Medical you get cleared almost in one week, the candidate mignt not know because sometimes they wait for the BI to be cleared. Uptodate the web site or weblog that is posted in the forum from an aramco lady is more precise than the photos that they have in houston but both are of great help.

Our orientation was not done in Houston. The orientation with spouse was a web video call, which included several other new hires and their spouses. If this is the way any of you will have your orientation, I strongly encoue you to make sure the webinar and login details are all set up and tested in advance. People on our call had varying technical difficulties, including the KSA side.

Dear all, We just had the orientation done in the ASC office in Houston. The relocation advisor coordinates everything from the airline ticketing, hotel, transportation issues. My wife and I stayed at the Westin Galleria which has a mall inside and perfect for shopping and dinner. Upon arrival at the hotel, ask the receptionist for your medical packet consisting of vials for collecting stool samples to look for parasites. Please read the instructions carefully to avoid need to recollect. You can get this done the night of arrival or early in the morning just as long as the sample is not greater than 7 days old per instruction packet. Fasting for blood draw in AM is not required so you can eat even after dinner. The hotel transport will bring you to the ASC office in the morning to have blood draws and have a TB skin test done, after that on to the orientation which is really informative. Jot down notes as you go along so you can clarify these with your relocation advisor during lunch or after the chest x-ray in the afternoon. You are then transported back to the airport with enough time for the departure.

Hadia,
We just received an invitation to the Orientation via WebEx and would like to know how to do a test run to see if the webcam and audio are working with the WebEx. I have known people to have used their webcam perfectly with Skype and Google but not on other sites(it just does't work) . Please advise on how to test it on the WebEx site.
Thanx
