All, There is some information already posted on the forum in this regard but it is not that clear. I would like to clarify that if the local satellite providers do sell the receivers capable of sending out NTSC signals and If we can find NTSC formatted DVDs and games from Al-Khober or Bahrain (as some one mentioned in this forum) then why do we need to buy this converter? Please share your thoughts.

I have one of the cheaper brands of satellite receiver and even it has the option to send out NTSC signals. I shipped my NTSC TV from USA and it works fine. In my opinion there is no need to buy the PAL to NTSC converter.

Hi sugerland,
Can you clearify further i.e. your tv works without the NTSC to PAL video output converter or with the converter? If you are using a converter do you have any recommendation as to which brand I should buy as I am planning to bring my tvs from Canada. Do I need one converter for each of my tv or one will be enough for all? Any idea about the dvds/blueray movies? dvd/blueray player bought from KSA will be able to play disks bought fr north america or do I need to bring my player as well?
Any advice would be appreciated.

My NTSC TV that I shipped from USA works fine without any need for a converter. Make sure the satellite receiver you buy from here in Saudi should have capability to send out NTSC signal.

I brought my TV (NTSC) from the US in my e-box. I subscribed to OSN after I received the TV. When I was ordering the service, I requested a box that could output the signal in NTSC. OSN said they do not have a box that can do that. Fortunately, I brought a PAL to NTSC converter with me. I bought mine on Amazon for around $100 and it works great. When the installation guy came, I asked him about a box that could output in NTSC and he gave me a blank stare. YMMV.
I also highly recommend bringing an Apple TV box with you and a wireless router setup with your VPN. I came with VPN access but not a VPN router. A VPN router allows all connections to it to go to your VPN without having to connect each time...a pain. You will daisy chain your VPN router to the router Aramco gives you. Apple TV requires VPN but there is no way to install the VPN access directly into your Apple TV.
