Hi guys,
Could one of the canadians please recommend some good shipping companies they know of/or used? Unfortunately I am having a tough time connecting with ASC to help me get a list of preferred shipping companies - i figured i would ask here.
Thank you in advance!

If it is like the U.S. ASC will assign you a shipping company. Canadians?

I talked to a buddy of mine, Canadian Aramcon, and he said ASC assigned him the shippers. I personally opted for the cash. My brother in khobar just bought me TV, vacuum cleaner and other stuff....

I opted for the cash as well which I figured means I'm on my own to find a shipping company. Ill try to touch base with ASC to get more info

I recall CIL is half of the actual shipping cost that is recalculated on a regular basis, likely annually. However, if you exceed your allowable limit then you are responsible for the excess weight at full cost. For example, if you want to ship 5000 lbs and have CIL for 5000 lbs but actually ship 7500 lbs you would end up with zero CIL. To have the full CIL benefit you need to be at or under the allowable weight.

It is still unclear as to how CIL is calculated, for Canada-Dhahran for a family of 5 opting for CIL.

The Personal Effects group will provide the values. The CIL sheet I received expires in June so there will be a new valuation. I believe CIL is 1/2 of the actual cost to ship. Total value depends on the number in the family.
