Hi all
I have been invited to attend for interview in London next month (November 2012). I am travelling from Northern Ireland and wondered if anyone else would be travelling over. Can anyone advise me the closest and nicest hotel to stay in for a night near the interview venue (New Oxford Street WC1A). Looking forward to it and fingers crosses I am successful!!
Thanks
Fiona

ok - tips! dont worry too much about the speed typing test - i didnt finish it and decided if they failed me on it I didnt want the job anyway as they obv need someone who will type all day and i dont wanna do that! I dont see how u can 'fail' the interview as such as much of it is sussing out whether u are the type of person who could live in saudi arabia and on aramco camp - it does take a certain type of person to live there! there is no booze (supposidly - ;o), women cant drive and u need to wear an abaya outside camp - but bahrain is an hour away and its utopia over there! bars, clubs, shopping etc. But the gym and pool on camp are good and the mall is 20 mins away by free bus - if you dont mind a quiet life then you will be fine but if ur the type of person who likes to go to the pub and cinema every night - ur gonna find aramco tough going! you need to make ur own home grown entertainment! U will also be placed into a small apartment and are looking to be there for at least 3 years before you earn enough points to move into a house(in dhahran and ras tanura anyway)- do not believe anyone at the interview who tells you otherwise!! the people u speak to in london may be from AOC (aramco overseas company) and either have not even been to saudi or not been for years - they know NOTHING!! ask them when they were last there?! u get basic old furniture but ikea is down the road and u can make it more homely ;o) the job roles tend to be quiet but u get a lot of time to maybe do some self study. The best thing about aramco is the people - you will meet lots of single girls in the same position as you - its like uni for adults and you will make friends for life! salary is about £3k a month tax free for secretary'swith £50 coming off for ur rent and thats all the bills you have ;o) u can save a fair bit and everyone has great holidays - not many people back home have £3k a month to spend after all their bills are paid! working hours are 7am- 4pm - sat to wed (so v different from uk) and these timings are kept quite strictly! there are loads more things i can tell you - please post specific questions or ur email address so i can contact u directly - good luck!!

Hi UKEXPAT Thanks so much for the info. Almost all of what you have said matches up with what I have heard from my friend Louise who is out there at the moment. It sounds even better now you are the second person to give a true account of life there. I am sure there is so much more but we all have to experience it for ourselves first hand. All I am concerned about now is the medical after interview if I am lucky enough to be offered a post. I have had minor illnesses last year but thankfully this year I am fighting fit but seeing some posts here have me worried as they have turned down potential employees who have had knee surgery!! Would hate to think that a simple blood test could fail me!! If you wish to contact me directly via email please do as I would love to hear more of your info.... fionablack77@btinternet.com Thanks again for your info - it is much appreciated F xx

I have an interview on Wednesday 3rd April for a medical secretary. Can anyone give me an idea what to expect on the day and if successful at the interview, what is life really like out there? I've read lots of reviews and its been a mixture of good and bad

Hi all Just wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone responds... I have an interview for secretary role(s) next week and just wanted to connect with anyone who might have had similar, or was successful and is now working in KSA! I understand salaries are approx 35k GBP (I haven't been told this, just worked it out by looking at lots of different discussions) and the deductions for rent etc are minimal. But pls tell me if this is wrong... What happens about tax etc? I understand that if you are out of the UK for more than six months of the year, tax is not deducted? I realise it's a specific thing, different to each of us, but if anyone has an "idiots guide to tax" that they can share or explain, I would be grateful Thanks all! Vicky
