My visa application is currently at the consulate which means I could conceivably be arriving by month's end (YEA!!!). I will be living in single housing in Dhahran. Can anyone tell me what the high-speed internet service is in single housing? Is it fiber optic or adsl or dsl? Can anyone recommend a wireless router to use that will also support VPN?

It will depend on exactly what kind of single housing you are given, and where it is. You could get either ADSL or fiber optic.

It is my understanding that the router the company supplies nowadays is usually a wireless model (at least, it was for the last two new hires we got in our dept).
