Hi, We are at the visa medical stage of our journey to Dhahran. We have a GE profile refrigerator with ice maker that we plan to bring and we need to buy washer/dryer as the one we have is pretty old. I was wondering if you could suggests the brands that would work well and could easily be repaired if needed.
The wealth of information in this forum is a blessing and I would appreciate the guidance.

You can pay Aramco appliance repairmen to repair your own washer and dryer. Sometimes they can get the parts and sometimes not and you need to bring them in or ship them in. So get a washer and dryer you like.

Hi all,
In your opinion, would you suggest we buy a washer/dryer in the States or buy it when we get there? Are the prices/variety comparable?
Thanks a lot!

If you want your own, I would buy (as we have) prior to leaving. The camp operates using 115/230 volts, unlike the rest of the kingdom. That will limit availability. You may be able to buy used on the Aramco Intranet classifieds. I think that you can rent both for a moderate fee from Aramco like the rest of the furnishings that they will be supplying. That would be the easiest, but you may not like what you get.
I can tell you from experience that the local laundry/dry cleaning service fees are ridiculously cheap.
