Hi everyone! I am in the process of going to work for Saudi Aramco and I have searched the forum but I cannot find any information for single women. I just want to know what I can expect as a single woman in the camp. I am somewhat shy at first but if I decide to accept the position I want to challenge myself to experience new things. So I do have some questions that are geared more towards single women. What type of housing can I expect? Are there groups that meet after working hours (I am interested in learning to sew)? I see we can drive on camp, can we ride a scooter (I don't plan on shipping my vehicle)? Can I put a scooter in my household shipping container? How do we shop of camp? Any info on activities for singles? Can we date? Is there anything women cannot do? Any women who want to share their "life in KSA" experience with me? Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated. I would like to make an informed decision about whether I want to accept the position. Thank you ahead of time for any information.

Some single women live in an Apartment building with a 1 BR apt. Others get a 1 bedroom townhouse. There are some that share a living space with separate bedrooms. After 2 years they can bid on a larger 2BR townhouse, some have chosen to live together in this setting.
Yes, single women can ride scooters on camp. Aramco will not pay for your scooter to be in you household shipment, but you could pay to ship it yourself. You can buy scooters here.
There are many self-directed groups on camp (exercise classes, art/craft classes, sports, etc. about 50 groups in Dhahran), single women can participate in those activities. There is a quilting group that will teach you to quilt. I don't know if they give beginner basic sewing classes.
You can shop on camp using the circuit buses, the taxi services on camp, shopping with a friend with a car or on your scooter. There are shopping buses for women and men to the local towns and a ladies only bus to Bahrain.
I have two friends who were single here and are now married, they did date. I'm sure care is taken when off camp.
I hope this helps. Hopefully there is a single woman on the forum who can give you first hand information.
Women cannot wear a 2 pc swimsuit. You cannot drive off camp.

Hi Mocowgirl
Single woman here!
Vpainter has pretty much described everything accurately.
Your housing will depend on nationality, job/grade code. Depending on this, you may be eligible to start bidding on housing immediately. However, the reality is, you will most probably not have enough points for a successful bid until you have been here 4+ years. That is the situation at the moment.
There are A LOT of single women here, secretaries, nurses etc. Your life is as social as you wish to make it. You are free to date, but obviously, if you are off the compound you need to remember where you are.
FYI, females are allowed to wear a bikini at the women’s only pool near the library.
Feel free to PM me if you want further info.

Another question. Are there employment time terms? For example, are you accepting an offer that requires you to stay in their employment for two years, three years, etc?

Yet, another question. I am applying for a position at the hospital. Do hospital employee's live on Dhahran or at other camps and commute?
