Hi All,
I have received an Offer Letter from Saudi Aramco - The Base Salary offered is a bit lower than my current base salary (I am currently working in a similar job here in Gulf). Though the remaining 'perks' may not change, is it advisable to negotiate on the base salary? :?:

Many people negotiate salary and submit proof of pay with pay stubs, again. Aramco may meet the salary or may not.

I decided not to counter the offer, after calculating the benefit would be received. In my opinion we should look at the package not only the base salary. The living cost also should take into consideration, i.e my friend has 4 children living in Riyadh and they spend SAR 500 per week ....cheap..cheap. The way I calculating is how much money I could save potentially.... 8) . It is your right to counter the offer... good luk!!!!!

LOL! I'm with you Gareth0127, more like 2500SR/month if not more. Riyadh must be a lot cheaper than the Eastern Province.

Captain,
All depends on what payscale you are being hired on, in my case AOA(Asian & Other Arabs) i really had to nogotiate hard, coz the end benefits are not much for AOA compared to the MNC i was working in KSA, like, you dont have transportation allowance in Aramco and your base pay gets deducted by rent if you choose to live on campus. All in all, you have to put everything on Excel Sheet, and Mind you, Sometimes the cost of living hikes on job migration. The Year end Bonus was almost similar to what i was getting in company in KSA. Along with transportation allowance i used to get company car without deduction. Do your maths carefully...

Is it a normal practice to consider local tax while negotiating the offer with recruiter who told me KSA is 0% tax? I was negotiating the gross salary which my current one is higher whereas the net and cuz of tax is lower, they used it as strong point which makes me end up in almost a situation of take it or leave it. The offer is good for me but I was thinking if I can get better as I am going to sacrifice many things like life quality, Lunch hour with family and very hot weather + used atmosphere I have with current employer

No, it is not normal to consider negotiating local tax, there is none.
Only you can decide if the offer is good for you and your family.
If you want the status quo in your life, then here may not be for you.
If you are adventurous and want an adventure with benefits, this may be a good place for you.
Best wishes for a decision that you are happy with for your family.

Hi vpainter, Thanks for your info. i menat that is it normal to compare for recruiter to say that there is no tax in the aramco salary whereas your current one has tax? when the propose the salary they compare gross to gross or net to net. as I said before my net in the offer is higher than my curerent now only beacuse of the tax?
Regards

Seems to me if your net is greater, you will get more money, does it matter what it depends on?
I would think Aramco could use the no local tax as a positive, go to work in the USA, Australia, etc. you will pay local tax from your income.

Bottom line, is the figure they have offered you acceptable or not? If yes accept, if not ask for more.
There is an excellent search facility on this forum and you will find most of the questions you are asking have been answered numerous times.
Good Luck
