My familiy is arriving in a couple of weeks and we will be looking for a domestic helper. Can anyone tell me what the prevailing rate of pay is for a full time domestic helper? i.e. someone who cleans, cooks, does laundry... Is there a rate or does everyone negotiate individually? Where does one look to find one?

Speaking from DHA.
Many people hire houseboys (what they call themselves - not a negative term) and they come however many hours you hire them for and live in the Aramco Domestic Camp inside the Residential camp. 25SR/hr is the going rate for them. Most find theirs by word of mouth, discussing with others what their house helper does for them.
Others hire maids who live off camp and come in however many days you agree upon. Usually a minimum of 4 or 8 hours are required by them as their rides only come at the end of the day. 4 hours they work for two people and 8 hours they work for one person that day. Again, word of mouth is the way most find them.
Or you can sponsor your own maid who would live in your home. For this type of help you go through HR and pay per month as agreed upon by their country's contract with KSA.
