If a on-camp resident sponsors a visitor from off-camp and he gets a traffic violation, is both he and his sponsor penalized (i.e., double penalty)? That is, the sponsor's merit points might be deferred, etc. AND the visitor pays a traffic fine?
I thought the system had changed: only the visitor is penalized. This was what two traffic police officers confirmed.

I'm would expect that Industrial Security could give you the definitive answer.

Industrial Security did give me the right answer. There was some flip-flopping going on. For quite a while, on-camp sponsors were penalized. Then a few months ago, both the on-camp sponsors were penalized AND the visitors were penalized (i.e., double penalty). As of 2 weeks ago, only the visitor is penalized. Apparently, there was sufficient complaning from camp residents that penalizing them was unfair. It is unfair. My friend was up for promotion in a week, someone he sponsored got a on-camp ticket, and my friend never got that promotion (he left before the 5 year delay elapsed). WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sponsors will not be penalized anymore. Aramco security can now issue tickets for traffic volation and the ticket will go to gonvernment system and the violator has to pay fine. The security seems to ticket expat more than the locals. I often see some locals driving big SUV in the camp and the kid sticks his/hers head out of the moonroof. No security guys seem to care when they pass security gate

This new system of not penalizing the sponsor will result in more visitors ignoring the traffic rules. They just pay up and that's the end of it.

Good. Who wants to take responsibility for the driving of a complete stranger you confirm with a guard with your badge number to deliver a load of furniture to your house? Or is visitor defined differently, such as someone approved to stay with you in your home, such as a visiting parent?

I'm not quite sure how you figure that. Before, the only worry that a visitor had, who ignored traffic rules on camp, was that their sponsor might get into trouble. Depending on how close their relationship was with their sponsor, that might or might not have bothered them.
Now they risk having to pay a fine themselves if they break the rules (and get caught).
I would have thought the prospect of a fine of up to SR 900 was a much greater deterrent than the fact that someone else (who you might not even care that much about) was going to get penalty points from Saudi Aramco.

GroverWanderer,
I see very selfish people who pretend to be friendly with their sponsor wouldn't care less about racking up demerit points for his sponsor.
If I sponsor someone, I make darn sure that they are reliable. One traffic violation - they are cut off from being sponsored ever again by me. I would have thought that most Aramcons only sponsored people they had rock-solid, water-tight trust in.
My point is: now that this trust is no longer needed, Aramcons would be (IMHO) more likely to sponsor every Tom, Dick, or Harry because they know the visitor will take the fall ONLY.

Contrary to that thought, most Aramcons only sign in people who have something to do with them. Friends, a company delivering goods to them, etc.

I have always made it a point to go up to the gate and escort the (stranger) guest vehicle in and do the same on return, some delivery people have you sign in and then go around the camp delivering others stuff too, by escorting them out the gate, you have that much control.

My big concern has always been taxi drivers who bring you home, then I see some of them speeding along the street towards the gate. I'm very happy if they are now responsible for their own driving....not me! Jodie
