I have heard that the on-camp traffic penalties have changed. Before, a resident was penalized for his (and his sponsored visitors') traffic violations. The resident was penalized with missing work promotions, pension shortened, etc. This really improved the traffic safety on the camp because just the threat of a traffic violation negatively affecting one's career was enough deterrence. Deterrence that the resident (or sponsor) drove super-careful and encoued/scared any visitors he sponsored to do the same (or the resident wouldn't sponsor that person in the future, etc.).
But, now, there's only a simple traffic fine by the outside traffic police. IMHO, people won't be as careful in driving on camp b/c it's only money. We all hate paying traffic fines but our basic livelihood or careers wouldn't be negatively affected.
Or, was all these threats from the Aramco Traffic Department that a resident's work would be negatively affected all smoke & mirrors? Has anyone's career @ Aramco actually been negatiely affected by traffic violations?

I do not believe the company has abandoned its traffic safety program - as far as I know it is still in force.
There was an announcement that Industrial Security but the announcement goes on to say that
And yes, people's careers have been affected by traffic violations. Employees racking up enough penalty points have had merit increases deferred, for instance. I even heard a story (possibly apocryphal though) of someone being fired for totalling a company vehicle that they were driving outside of working hours without an after-hours vehicle use sticker.

Actually there is more tightness on traffic regulation violation not the contrary as far as I know. Over the years many employees has been affected with traffic regulation violation, the traffic violations will freeze employee pay raise for the year which over years will cost thousands of dollars and give him low ranking with the yearly evaluation PMP.

Does anyone know exactly how one violation will affect PMP? I made the mistake of cavalierly taking a left turn instead of going around and making a u-turn at the commissary the other night and got pulled over. I'm really sorry I did it, and I won't do it again - and I make sure not to drive over speed limit inside or outside of camp. I have heard this one error will make me miss a whole promotion. Is that true?

Whether you get a promotion or not is dependent on various factors and (in my experience) has a lot to do with how much your supervisor and/or dept manager is willing to "go to bat" for you.
I would not expect one traffic violation to affect your promotion chances too much but as mentioned, lots of different factors are at play. However, if you rack up enough traffic violation points, it will almost certainly have an effect and can definitely cause a merit increase to be deferred.

Used to it was true that traffic tickets effected raises. Now there is a point system, it is on the back of the ticket. I know because I received one a couple of months ago. The points are added up throughout the year. If you receive a certain amount (don't know the number) your raise is then affected. System is a year or so old.

Well, it's good to know that this won't make me miss one whole promotion as another buddy of mine remarked. Thanks for the info GW.
Vpainter, I don't have any information about points on the back of my ticket. it is the pink copy of form that says "Notice fo Unauthorized Parking and Unsafe Driving Practice." Perhaps DH tickets look different?
Also, my supervisor never got a copy of the ticket. Does that mean it just got "lost in the system" or will it take a few months? I told my supervisor about it because I don't want to hide anything from him, but he said it hadn't arrived, and wondered if it wasn't just a warning. However, the ticket itself says that it is a "Violation Ticketed."

Definitely different. Mine says Traffic Violation Ticket and has the point system on the back. Maybe it is only in effect in DHA.

aerternum8, I'm not quite sure what you mean by missing "one whole promotion." You make it sound as if promotions come along on some kind of a schedule but this is not the case. Promotions are never guaranteed in the first place and they are certainly not on any kind of regular basis. Every promotion is a "one-off" and as I mentioned, lots of different things can be (and are) taken into consideration. Depending on how long you stay with the company, you may or may not get a promotion or you may get more than one - there's no way to know, really.

GW - again, didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Please excuse the ignorance as I've only been here since January.

For a little while in the past, receiving traffic tickets were affecting the yearly raises, not promotions. That may be what your friend was saying. That was then changed to this point system. If you receive so many points in a year, it can affect your yearly raise.
