We have been using strongvpn.com for about 18 months now. I upload a lot of photos, video etc without issue and download a fair amount as well. No issues.

Witopia. Been using it for 1 year and have had absolutely no issues. Works with iPad/iPhone etc as well.

Just follow the instructions for setting up vpn for ipad. Go to settings, select vpn option, add VPN configuration. Give your server name and account login. Turn on Send all traffic. Now vpn is activated.

Hi,
I'm arriving in Kingdom in a few weeks and had a followup question about this post. I have no expereince with VPN's and heard that I'll need to get one if I want to watch Netflix. My main computer is an iMac that's in my surface shipment. I have an ipad and ibook that's with me. If I purchase any one of the above mentioned VPN services, will I be able to install it on my iMac when it arrives. Or, is this something that I should have done before I shipped it off to Saudi?
Thanks!

I thought I would revive this topic since it has been about a year now.
I am thinking that VPN is the way to go to allow unrestricted streaming of movies and such and it looks like StrongVPN.com has the best packages. I am assuming that I will need a wireless router anyway for my laptop and Vontage, and since StrongVPN offers a VPN router and annual package bundle I will at least be pretty sure that the hardware and service will work together. Based on the chatter for this topic, like Vontage I should get it set up and running before I leave North America.
Please chime in if you have experiences.

Thanks TrainingProf. I was also looking into VPN, but wasn't sure which companies to use. If anyone has any other list of VPN companies that they are happy with at KSA, please do share.
Also, please advise if there is a limit (size) on the monthly streaming of videos through the VPN or if there are no limits. I am assuming it all depends on the package you get.
Any input is appreciated. zsb

Can anyone recommend what kind of VPN router to get? I've been to the Strong VPN site and was not sure which VPN router to get.

I got the Asus that is on the strong/reliable website. It works awesome.
To answer the prior poster's inquiry, your throughput is still slowed down by the Aramco system that you are connected to. no limits. but generally not anywhere near the download speeds you see anywhere else.
Fast enough to stream video MOST , but not ALL the time...depending on how many other peeps are using the internet. Wednesday nights are SLOW, for example...

We started getting vpn for each computer until we find out we can get vpn router. So, we ordered one but was unable to set it up as it's not very simple... at least for us, its not. Then someone recommended sabai www.sabaitechnology.com/We can't be happier to get their service. They are not vpn provider. They will suggest some names to you but they will program the router for you and also provide accelerator which for us has been great. We've been able to stream 2 movies on two tvs while browsing at the same time. strongvpn is one of the recommended one, and that's what we have. That site is block though from here, so if you can set one up while you're in state, that's better. With vpn router, you only need to subscribe to one vpn and hook all of your devices (tv, computer, ipad, ipod, phone) to it.

Have been using Witopia with success. Cost is US$39/6 month. No hardware needed, just go to witopia.com and download the software. Can be used for ipads, iphones and multiple computers

I subscribed to the Witopia VPN-Pro or something like that for USD69 a year and have had no issues. In fact, my wife would probably kill me if I decided to unsubscribe to the service. It is that important to her.
Whatever makes the missus happy.

yes, please keep the missus happy. i'm one of them if you have smart tv, or will hook your tv to roku, apple tv, etc, you will need vpn router. This makes movie watching so much easier and feel more how we're used to.
