There are a few Aramco employees who live in Bahrain with their families and commute each day to work.

Thanks vpainter,
Could one of those Aramcons living in Bahrain and commute to work please let me know if I would be able to get a CPR and if so what is involved. Also, please note I have an Australian passport.

I have a friend who works mainly in Saudi Arabia and commutes from Bahrain. He and his family all have a Bahrain CPR. His company has offices in Bahrain however and when I asked him, he said their government affairs rep was instrumental in getting him the residency in Bahrain. As far as I know, Aramco would not provide you with direct help to you in getting Bahrain residency. But since, as vpainter mentions, there are people whose families live in Bahrain, it must be possible. The Bahraini government's evisa website has a section on residence visas, including an "Application Form for Self-sponsorship Residence Permit." www.evisa.gov.bh

Hi Atwan,
Any feedback from Aramcons living in Bahrain ?
I would like to understand - like you I guess - how they manage this and especially how they got their residency visa in Bahrain.
Thank you

Colleagues - Major help required!!; guys - I work in Dhahran. I want to live in Bahrain with my wife. I am on bachelor status. I don't really care for the CPR, because I would cross the bridge every day. I lived in Bahrain for 2 months previously with 0 issues. mind you, it was a holiday suite. The issue is my wife. She can stay 2 months (don't ask) as a tourist, and then do a visa run. I'd prefer to avoid flying to Dubai every 8 weeks, so anyone found a solution?! Until 2 years ago, it was sufficient that she was married to an iqama holder (me), but that has been stopped. I don't quite get it, because to have an iqama, you need to be on married status, that requires you to live 180 days in KSA - so how can they live in Bahrain! I don't think I can even get a CPR print*, as my visa agents couldn't see a way either. If your company doesn't provide a letter of no objection (NOL), forget it. I talked to 3 people in ARAMCO HR and they all said the same; "we don't support out-of-policy activities". It's because our over-base is based on us living in Saudi or some s. I know hundreds of expats are living in Bahrain, so does anyone know if there's a way around for the wifey in my situation.... to get a CPR? I don't want to pay a years rent, and they block my wife coming in after 4 months.... Why is everything made hard in the ME *There is a CPR. Then there is a CPR imprint which only allows you limited services like being able to open an electricity, gas, phone, cable, internet, bank account, etc. May be an issue depending on what type of accommodation it is... There are ways to get a CPR. Buy property in a defined location, buy I think 300,000US in Bahraini shares, retire there, and some other s.... Help!
